Getting my house tented for termites, what should I know?

Just thought I would test the depth of the pelican brain trust.

I'm getting my house gassed for termite, other than the obvious removal of pets, food, and extinguish all flames are there any other precautions I should take?

Thanks,
Scott

Wash all your dishes when you go back, double bag your food in the freezer

So, is every surface in your home covered by a pesticide residue when done?

The fumigators are pretty good at leaving everything safe. Had an ex-girlfriend do it. Later moved in with my 2 cats, and everyone was happy and healthy. Doesn't hurt to re-wash any utensils that come in contact with food...

Also, The Gas Co. was pretty prompt in turning the gas back on.

I had an ex-girlfriend tented for bugs once. I washed all the exposed surfaces twice, and she was good to go. I made her rewash all of her utensils as well.

Know that all the bugs at your house will move to your neighbor's house. Then when your neighbors fumigate, the bugs will return to your house. :)

Seriously, just wash up anything you eat off off. I think the pesticide has a very rapid half life.

If possible, can the tent job and have your home treated with Termidor. It is one of the best termiticides on the market, and it will eleminate termites. Plus, the treatment is very cost-effective.

Look around for the best price on fumigators too. Some of them cost 5X what others do for the same service. There are only a few companies in SoCal that tent houses. All the other exterminators sub the work out to them often with a large markup.
