Today I hit double nickels!

Birthday today....the big 55. Time to start cleaning out my desk here. I will probably give my retirement notice the end of the month.. can't wait!

TerryBPP 01-05-2006 05:05 AM

Congrats!

I'd throw you a party but I would want to get you to excited. I know how you old people like to pee your pants.;)

AFJuvat 01-05-2006 05:10 AM

Congrats!

When you retire and you already live in FL, where do you move to?

AFJ

targa911S 01-05-2006 05:16 AM

Terry i'm wearing my depends today. AFJ.. I'm buying a farm in west PA. OK let the "T-Bird bought the farm" jokes begin.

bell 01-05-2006 05:24 AM

where at in pa?
watch out for snipes :D

targa911S 01-05-2006 05:39 AM

Bell, I'm looking outside of Newcastle, Ellwood City, Beaver Falls areas. My family is all in Cleveland and I have been here for 20 hurricane seasons...time to go. Yes I know it snows but I plan on working at two cottage jobs so I won't have to go out in it much. Of course there is some band up there that needs a bass player too. Looks like I'll be buying a FWD truck though.

Quiter! I have a feeling that next season will be even more fun. :(

targa911S 01-05-2006 05:44 AM

Yupp...that's why I bought hurricane shutters as a good selling point for my house. "You'll be safe as a baby". LOL!

pbs911 01-05-2006 12:25 PM

Because no one said it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I made it a little larger for those older eyes.
:D

Joeaksa 01-05-2006 12:32 PM

Targa,

Happy Birthday and glad to see another old fart on the list. Mine is Saturday and am two behind you! Hope we both keep it going for many years to come...

JoeA

targa911S 01-05-2006 12:35 PM

Thanks pbs! I read it fine. Tcar I have been a slave for a major newspaper for 20 years. selling the house cashin' in and gettin out of here to less expensive digs. My wife retired from a major airline a few years ago. Now it's my turn. Can't wait. I plan on working at what has been a hobby for a while, restoring vintage SXS shotguns, selling on ebay and doing the gunshow circuit. Of course i will still play music too. A slave no more!

Given my prior lifestyle, I didn't think I would get this far. Now that I have grandkids ( I'm poppa T-Bird to them, I couldn't get Pimp daddy T-Bird approved) I'm glad I'm still around. Now I can SUGAR THEM UP AND SEND THEM HOME!

Rodeo 01-05-2006 12:40 PM

Happy birthday!

And congratulations on some good retirement planning! When I'm 55, I'll have a 9 and a 13 year old. Barring unforseen fortune, I'll be working a long, long time :)

targa911S 01-05-2006 12:43 PM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SATURDAY JOEAKSA

I typed real big for those old eyes. (haven't I read that before? )

Superman 01-05-2006 12:53 PM

I too had no reason to believe I would be alive at 48 years of age.

Happy birthday, to you and Joe.

Yeah quitting booze 20 years ago saved my life.

Hugh R 01-05-2006 02:22 PM

Happy bday. turn 52 end of the month. No retirement in sight for me for a while.

targa911S 01-05-2006 05:28 PM

Thanks to all. it has been a great day. After work my wife took me on a date to the shooting range for 100 rounds, then I stuffed myself with ribs for dinner. Came home to a Loews gift certificate for $150.00 from my kids (?) It don't get any better, life is good and you all are a big part of that.

Thanks,

Old T-Bird

I was a big fan of adult diapers when I was in college. I could have 20 beers at a party and not miss a thing.

Congrats on that - not easy to do.
So, I guess "Angry & Irrational Child" is just for old time's sake, eh? ;)
.
'Takes discipline and smart planning to retire at 55.

Somebody on this board called me that one day, so i use that as an "in your face".

Guess I should change that to "who gives a sheet?"

well I'm not sure how much "planning" actually was involved, but the numbers look like it can work. If not ...well there's always that job as a greeter at Walmart.

I can just see that......"Hi welcome to Wallymart...what the hell you looking at?"

oldE 01-06-2006 03:07 AM

Happy Birthday! A friend of mine refers to the change in his situation at this age as: 'commencement'. As in, his real life now begins.

Happy 55!

Hitting a considerably more wimpy 40 myself in two weeks with the words of my 9 year old daughter: - Need anything for your 40th then, old fart?

Thank heaven for our old Porsche´s, keeping us feeling young and potent. :)
