Horrible Postal Service
Folks, I have awful mail service. For years on my street my neighbors and I would exchange each others mail several times a year: "Here Kurt I got your mail... Thanks Dave, here's your mail"
When some improtant financial stuff never showed up I thought, Okay I'll switch to a PO Box, that should improve things. Well, not so. I renewed my vehicle tags with Motor Vehicles in December and I am still waiting for the tags. DMV says they got my payment and everything has been processed. I also take several subscriptions and they aren't showing up either. Question for you guys who take these mags: Have you received the January 'Automobile' and the latest 'Excellence' ( has an article on the new RS Spyder LMP2). I have seen both of these on the newsstand just not in my PO Box. Thanks...

I don't get those magazines, but I right there with you on the mail service. It got so bad I was running mail around the neighborhood 2-3 times a week. I quit doing that when I was walking a block and a half away and stopping at 4 houses. I thought when did I get a second job?
So I started complaining to the local post office where my mail was coming from. It got a little better. Then I started writing "wrong address AGAIN" on the envelopes, putting them back in the box with the flag up. Eventually it has gotten better but not completely. I gave her a card this year, but no money. I wrote in there "That her tips are dependent on good service. Hopefully, you'll receive a generous tip next year if service improves." Well, NO screw ups yet. Of course I'm not getting any mail either, just kidding. I really think this fixed the problem. Good Luck!

Sorry, but they've got a pretty good job. It's not rocket surgery. They should be able to get it right almost ALL of the time.

Similar here. 'Getting my neighbor's mail, etc.
. I rec'd a credit card statement that went to the same house #, but a "Street" and not a "Court." The envelope was opened and then sealed with Scotch tape...with a note written on the envelope. Sheese!, strangers clear across town looking at my credit card statement? C'mon! . I took that to my local PO and spoke with the manager face to face. He said it was due to new temporary workers. He gave me his cell phone # and invited me to call as soon as it happened again - which it did. Called him twice after that. All seems better. For now, anyway.

And just think, they get a rate hike effective on Jan 8th.
Must be a reward for their excellent service. Mail stinks here, too. I think it's just the norm everywhere.

Once in, they have a job for life. Its not great but they are taken care of forever.
Talk with the bosses in town, this is BS, especially when the neighbours are having the same situation. Would be better if you could go in with 2-3 others at the same time. That way they would realize that its not just one family. Then follow it up in writing and wait a few weeks. JoeA

Short term options include what has been suggested here. The Postal Service has, and will likely accept, responsibility to get it right. It's not an organization you cannot impact. You can.
Long term options include deregulating the movement and delivery of first class mail. Why do you think nobody is calling for that?

Because the USPS is a coercive monopoly? Because the law forbids delivery of mail to private mail boxes by any entity than the USPS? Because the government knows open private competition would cripple the USPS, forcing thousands of employees out of work? Because the politicians enjoy their free postal service priveledge? Who knows.... Reference THIS and other sources about Private Express Statutes.

Hi folks; I'm DA MAN-the postman that is. Been workin' for Canada Post for nigh on 20yrs-take great pride in doing my job--and in doing it well. But man,do I work with some idiots and a lot of people with HUGE attitude probs. It's unbelievable. The new crop is even worse...no sense of responsibility at all.I get really pissed when I return to work after a replacement worker has done my job while I've been on vacation.Misdeliveries abound etc.Talk about goodwill down the drain. At least most of my customers are glad to see me back, but honestly,it's true these type of mistakes shouldn't happen--it's just not right, overall this is a good job---so take some initiative and do it well! My little rant.Anyone who has repeated problems should indeed call the nearest delivery depot and request to speak to a supervisor.
Cheers,Richard

Well, I talked to a supervisor. There are going to put a "Publication Watch" on the periodicals to better track them. We'll see. As far as my vehicle tags not showing up from the DMV, She said: "gee, someone might be driving around with your tags". No *****.
For now, nothing to do but wait and see. Thanks for all the comments.
