Help! Leak around door frame

It has been raining for a couple of weeks here in Seattle and i discovered a leak around a sliding door frame. Slow consistent leak.

Any thoughts on what the cause is and how to fix it? Or even who to call to come take a look...2 storey house, door is on first floor. Leak is a slow drip on the side of the frame. House is about 6 years old.

Well the "cause" is a hole or crack that is allowing the water in. Now the hard part is finding it and there may be more than one. The first thing to do is a good visual inspection to see if you see anything obvious. If you find it then silicone caulk is some of the best stuff going as it adheres well and remains flexible but be aware not all silicone caulk is paintable which may not be important to you. If you can't find it visually then try having someone spray on the outside with a garden hose as you watch for leaks. Good luck.

Take care of this quickly, or you WILL have rot. Sliding doors are notorious for rotting floors.

Check along the top of the frame, on the outside. It should be flashed, but may not be.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.
