Anyone else own a Vita-Mix blender? Saaweeet!

This thing is amazing. Grinds ice like a wood chipper. Makes great smoothies.
2 kiwis--skin on.
1 banana
2 handfuls of red grapes
2 handfuls of strawberries, green part still on.
1 orange.
1 handful pineapple chunks.
2 handfuls of ice cubes
splash of soy milk.

You can make great soups with it too. My favorite kitchen appliance.
No, I don't work for them...just a lazy Saturday.

You know strawberry leaves are poisonous right?

gassy 01-07-2006 12:55 PM

didn't know that Chris--Jeez, between me eating those and my dog eating 2lbs of chocolate, we're in a bit of a pickle i'd say. Thanks for the info---gonna look it up now.
Christian.

I think it's the leaves of the plant itself, not the leaves on the top of the strawberry. Am I wrong?

Those first two photos look good 'n colorful.
Kiwi fuzz/strawberry leaves tickle yer gullet on the way down? :)
.
I have two blenders, but no Vita-Mix.
.
Not sure about strawberry leaves being poisonous, but my g/f, Dr. Poopsie, has made me aware of the dangers of eating non-organic veggies/fruits. I avoid all with "Grown in Mexico" labels, and if no labels, I ask the produce folks - if they don't know, I don't buy it. Insecticides, fungicides, etc., translocate into and are retained within the cellular structure of plants.
But then again, when I'm outside, I'm breathing brake dust. So what to do, eh?
.
That smoothie do look good.

Man that brings back memories. My parents bought a Vita Mix at the Minnesota State Fair in 1977. I was introduced to corndogs. Mmmmmmmmmm corndogs.

Is this the unit that costs $350-$400? My brother tells me he bought one at the county fair last year and loves it. But $400? He likes to eat of course.

Yeah--Costco, $350 and worth it!

Something to try, is to freeze the fruit before mixing it, be carefull not to do too much. You can make some of the most awesome fruit flavoured ice creams.
