Rick,

Save yourself a lot of grief. Find a woman you hate, buy her a house and be done with it.

Ha ha!

My only beef with my current gf is that she doesn't have a realistic understanding of money. She's not filthy rich like the last one. But she's content to work for a few mos., save every dime (in other words, I pay for most stuff) and then quit her miserable job to spend every minute looking for a real job. She's getting a lot of interviews and I'm sure a good, real job is just around the corner for her. But I just have an inherent aversion to quitting a job when you're not rich and don't have another one lined up. Other than that, we never fight about anything.

Hey RL, I'm still nuts about Lu. :D If you can separate out the emotional BS (someone called it "love" or something) and the sex thing, and you what you're left with is someone you really like, and it's mutual, you should be OK. LOL! If only it was that simple. :p

arcsine 01-10-2006 08:12 AM

Best of luck Todd and I hope things work out well for all of you.

Boy! Ain't that the truth. And it's not usually our fault (as married guys) that things go wrong - unless something really detrimental happens.

But Oprah, Dr. Phil and Ellen (like a lesbian knows anything about true marriage  ), would like you to think otherwise.

Between their shrinks, TV talk shows and People magazine, it seems that's where a lot of women get their education about relationships.

Luckily, my gf has never even heard of these things.

Sorry that it didn't work out

No kidding!

I maintain that Oprah is a secular cult (religion, if you will). Whatever she says becomes an instant fad.

I still can't get over when Her Highness had "The Rules" women on...

Dear Tech support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of this was included with the product information. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now launches during system initialization, where it monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I can’t seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favourite applications.

I’m thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn’t work on Wife 1.0 Please help!

Thanks,
A Troubled User.

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that men complain about. It is due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is merely a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden operating systems files cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0, so nothing is gained. It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Some have tried Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than in the original system. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony/Child Support.

I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application “Yes, Dear” to alleviate software augmentation. Having installed Wife 1.0 myself, I also suggest that you read the entire section regarding ‘General Partnership Faults’! (GPFs.) Your Wife 1.0 does a scan for GPFs during its monthly program maintenance scan (PMS). You must assume joint responsibility for any faults and problems that occur, regardless of their cause. You will also find that GPFs are cyclical. The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE. Avoid excessive use of C:\YESDEAR because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway. Remember, the system will run smoothly as long as you share the blame for all GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance.

Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 (which replaces Burn It 1.0), and Do Bills 4.2. You must, however, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 should this happen.

WARNING! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Best of luck, ?Tech Support

Been there...done that ......TWICE. I hear you 'bout the good and bad of. Best thing to do Todd is hoist a beer in her honor and move on to whatever may come your way.

Superman 01-10-2006 10:29 AM

The advice I got was to settle quickly and move on.....and that the healing clock does not really start ticking until the formal procedures are completed, documents signed a filed, etc. I ignored the advice of course, and discovered it was GOOD advice.....and that healing does begin when the gavel falls.

Very nice quote in your sig, Kev. SmileWavy

My first divorce was the best $60K I ever spent. Learn from it - let it polarize you to what you like and don't like in the opposite sex. Have a beer in the honor and move on. Having a marriage that doesn't work out makes you appreciate the one that does... What does the Barber say? .................................................. ..........NEXT!

pbs911 01-10-2006 12:08 PM

Todd,

Like the others, I've been there and done that. it is really a strange event with someone being a part of your life for so long, and then gone the next day. Remember this - you will remember the good times more than the bad as time goes on.

I've moved on. It sounds like you have been doing things for you. Things that make you happy. You are lucky to have a second (3rd?) chance. Make the most of it.
Don't look back. Do not compromise on your future decisions.
