Just got the new Employer's Tax Guide and noticed that the gubmint raised the withholding limit to $94,200 for 2006 from $90,000 in 2005, a pretty big jump.
Does it bother anyone else that they keep increasing the social security tax every year without any debate, without any vote, without any news coverage--it's totally stealth. Can you imagine the uproar if congress tried to increase income tax by 4.7%? |

Lets face it John, it is a tax. We could have turned it into some kind of investment program, but that opportunity has been lost. And do not think much of it will be left over when you retire. They even collect money on dummy numbers and keep that too - and are not allowed by law to tell employers..

I think I'd resent it less if if had to be re-approved every year. Get those congressmen and senators up in front of a microphone and make them defend their vote. Give voters back home the chance to factor that vote in come re-election time.
All I want is a little bit of truthful, painful public debate.
