Paypal scam - dispute charge

I just received an e-mail from Paypal that I had just payed for a $387 item with a credit card. There is a window that says dispute payment, so when I click on it I end up at the Paypal log in screen. However when I look at the site address it is not Paypal!! It's this.

So, I went directly to Paypal and logged in to find that there are no transactions in my transaction history.

Sounds fishy to me, beware fellow Porsche - brethren.

I received an e-mail this week telling me that a new e-mail address had been added to my PP account. The e-mail has a link to direct me to the account. The link however was not to the PP site. W/o left clicking on the link, I right click and pulled up the property of the link. I alerted PP of the e-mail. The e-mail was sent from a !!!@comcast.net account! Pretty obvious for those that have been using computers most of their lives. I fear there are some PP users who will fall for it, thus giving the scumbag their PP password.

I just reported it to Paypal. Of course my first thought was, "Warn the Pelican guys first!"

Always check the return URL or email address with emails like this. Never give out any information.

I get 2-3 of these a week...

Right on!

Re: scams...

I thought the Nigerian scam was pretty widely known, but over the Xmas holidays, I over heard a family member mention that a co-worker of his had just fallen victim to it....some house wife working a factory job losing thousands! I don't know the person, but it still pisses me off that the poor lady, who has been working hard at a less than ideal job for a mother to save her money, was taken advanage of by the dirt bags. I am aways fearful that someone in my family mgiht not know the latest scam....and I get a phone call

I get a few of these type of ebay/paypal scams a week. Forward to Spoof@paypal.com or Spoof@ebay.com and then delete it.

I get 5-10 "unauthirized access to your paypal account" a day in my Yahoo inbox. That's not counting the junk mail box. I think the more active on Ebay the more crap you get related to Paypal.

Paypal very rarely sends an unsolicited e-mail. I always forward to spoof without even opening.
It's easy enough to login to your account without picking it off of an unsolicited link.

Have some fun, go ahead and login (with a nonsense email and password) and see what else they ask for. I gave them my credit card number, PIN, last four digits of my SSN, name, address, phone number, etc. -- all bogus of course! At the end, they tell you the money is being refunded and re-direct you to the real PayPal site!
