What is the difference between short/long hood 911? pic please

In my never ending quest to learn everything about Porsche's.

I hear the term "long hood" 911 how is that different for a "short hood" if there is such a thing. Please post pictures to educate me.

I am constantly amazed at the seemingly never ending subtle differences in the 911 and 356 line.

I apologize in advance for asking a automobile related question.

a long hood is a 911 made up to 1973 with a longer hood that extends out to the bumper, while a short hood is a 911 made past 1974 with the hood only meeting the rubber lip at the bumper.

Am sure that we all wondered, as did I but when you look on the bottom of his post you can see that he is a watercooled guy and may have been posting most of his posts on that forum.

Unfortunately, that did happen...a lot...in the past. Think "Miami Vice" time period, when every idiot out there with some fiberglass wanted a slantnose turbo look. Of course today, that makes cars that remained true to the purity of the early line worth a few bucks...
