In my never ending quest to learn everything about Porsche's.
I hear the term "long hood" 911 how is that different for a "short hood" if there is such a thing. Please post pictures to educate me. I am constantly amazed at the seemingly never ending subtle differences in the 911 and 356 line. I apologize in advance for asking a automobile related question.

For a guy with over 2700 post I'm a bit surprised at your question...

a long hood is a 911 made up to 1973 with a longer hood that extends out to the bumper, while a short hood is a 911 made past 1974 with the hood only meeting the rubber lip at the bumper.

I wasn't sure until 700 posts. IMHO, I like short hoods though.

Okay I get it...
Sure over 2700 post... but at least 2500 of those are smarta$$ remarks that have nothing to do with cars! Besides what do you expect from a wethead.

Heh heh, nothing wrong with asking.
In fact we should start a thread "Everything you think you should know but are afraid to ask" Mine is: While I understand what "props" means but what is it short for? (I could probably Google but just never did)

Am sure that we all wondered, as did I but when you look on the bottom of his post you can see that he is a watercooled guy and may have been posting most of his posts on that forum. Now we need to bring him into the dark side of the Porsche world, that of rear engined, air cooled cars! Muhaaaaa...... Once you get bitten by the bug life is never the same! ![]() Joe A

Longhoods draw longing stares from folks who know what's cool.

He just wanted to make owners of those anorexic long hood models pant and sweat.
Worked, too, I'd say.

The wierd thing is that you never see anybody fore-dating their cars to look like post 1973 models.
