Chalkie says "Steak is the food of champions, and I'm definitely a champion"

Yup, she's a champ alright, she turned 20 a couple of months ago, a bit blind and a bit deaf, but very happy.

I've had toilet cats. The present one likes tap water and prefers you fill the sink in the bathroom.

Milk. Never give milk to a cat. If you want to give them a treat, you give them cream!

They also love bacon grease. When ever you see a cat on TV licking the sides of it's mouth, I can almost guarentee they used a little bacon grease on the face.

Yep, my cat "Keith Richards" had the same problems. Put him on script food and no probs. Worth the extra dough to save on emergency vet bills when he gets stopped up. By the way very common in neutered male cats.

Oh and he's on methadone too. :-)

We had a cat (should only happen to boys) that had the crystals in his urine and got stopped up. The vet told my mother that it was only an issue with dry food, but that if you sprinkled a few drops of regular vinegar on the dry food that it would mitigate the issue. I think that means 5-10 DROPS of vinegar on a bowl of dry food. It seemed to work.

when Keith Richards got stopped up, I took him to animal emergency. They came out and told me it would be and $800.00 bill by the time he could go home. I pulled their bluff and said to euthanize him. They were shocked! I told them he was a $20.00 rescue cat. They said " But we must be responsible for our pets for their whole life". I said "Listen lady, for $800.00 I could rescue an entire herd of cats!" They went away for a while then came back and said they would do it for $200.00. I said thanks and I would pick him up the next day. I know I gambled with poor Keith's life but ....it worked. Bandits. 8 lives to go!

hahahaha...targa that is funny. my vets play better poker. i still depleted my pcar fund...

"last cat" is a girl kitty. she plugged up good. there was even blood in the pee. ever try giving pills to a cat? that is effen dangerous. i am now more careful with the food choices.

What are the best wet food brands - nutrition wise? Anyone have a comparison?

How about some more cat pics.

Here is Roka - now 3.5 yrs. - rescued from the SPCA at the age of 2.

This is Monkey Cat.
She's a rescue , I guess around 4-5 years old
Iams dry food only and the occasional taste of table scraps
She won't drink water out of a bowl, I leave water from the bathtub faucet dribbling all day long. She refuses to drink anywhere but there.

Purina Cat Chow.
17 years old and still sneaking out of the dog door to catch and deliver unsuspecting birds...

Milu 01-24-2006 12:59 PM

Another Purina fancier.

Mr Gatto has been with me for over ten years. I'm guessing he's about 14.

A couple of years ago when we had a cat I used Friskies. It was something like this
Friskies® Tender Cuts With Ocean Whitefish in Sauce

If you look at the ingredients, it's water and then fish which means that those are the two main ingredients. I figure from the mass produced main types that you find at grocery stores, this is probably the best. I think Friskies has about 2 or 3 that have fish as the second ingredient. Too, the tender chunks or cuts or whatever have what looks like pieces of fish in the food.

I can't say that those are necessarily the best, but it's what I used.
