Much like conservatives in European countries, Canadian conservatives are still light-years more liberal than our most liberal politicians. Apples to oranges.

Harper is looking to "ease tensions with the United States" and "improve relations".
I wonder if creaturecat is voting?

Yup - It's election day. If Harper gets in, there will hopefully be a bit of the thaw in our relaitons with the US.
In terms of Right vs Left - Our conservatives are closer to your democrats than replublicans. Overall, just a bit more of a liberal society. AM

In the US the Liberals would all be shot and pissed on, here they almost got re-elected. Soooo pathetic what politicians get away with here.

........... in the end nothing changes......
The bloc will continue to rule for the next 50 years. They hold the balance of power for whoever sees there way. ....back to the polls in 2-3 years when the Cons try and make decisions that will affect Quebec.

I'm not a huge Liberal Party supporter, but in fairness I think Martin got a bit of a raw deal. Chretien, who IMO is truly a gangster, left him with the worst car in the demolition derby.

Uh, did you see any of his campaign? 1. I think I'd like to drop the notwithstanding clause 2. Panick mode 3. Buzz Hargrove. 4. Belinda
Could he sink any lower?

Yes, I agree his campaign went down the tubes BADLY.... I was embarrassed for him. I'm just saying the damage to the Liberal party was done by Chretien more than by Martin.
Why the hate-on for Belinda? Everyone liked her when she was a conservative

a) she is stupid b) she thinks she is smart c) just last week she compared herself to Winston Churchill d) she is a spoiled brat e) she is weasel
Other than that I really like her. Oh, and her teaming up with Buzz Hargrove. Beautiful, the woman who's family fortune came from non-unionized labour taking work from the big 3 supported by the CAW. Gatta love those principals. They were made for each other.

Sort of like When harry Met Sally, "She's the worst kind of woman, she's high maintenance, but she thinks she's low maintenance".
