Letting prisoners go to save a reporter
Not much fanfare on the release of Iraqi women prisoners today -- complying with the demands of the kidnappers of an American reporter.
I guess it wasn't made into a big deal because it would look like we were negotiating with terrorists which, of course, we do all the time, but never admit. |
We didn't release "the Iraqi women prisoners" today... We released several hundred prisoners today, as we do periodically, and with them 5 of the 8 women prisoners held. If we were "making a deal" as you say, we would have released all eight, and certainly done so prior to the kidnapper's deadline of last Friday.

You mean like the Germans did when they released Robert Steadham's killer from prison early last month to get their hostage released?
Tech, it would be nice if you could get your facts correct. "Not much fanfare"???? It was on all the news outlets and front page of the Intl Hearld Tribune... Joe A |
What happens when terrorists demand something you were thinking of doing already, or something that doesn't matter to you at all? Are you supposed to specifically NOT do it just because terrorists demanded it?
"We will kill 1000 people if George Bush doesn't wear that nice red tie with the paisleys on it!!!" |
