Interesting author: Norah Vincent
I gotta make this quick but I heard a really interesting interview with an author named Norah Vincent today. Seems she spent 18 months in drag presenting as a man to see how men live. Wrote it up as a book called "Self-Made Man". Cut to the chase: I expected her to spend the interview bashing men but instead was surprised that she did the opposite. In fact, she was surprisingly perceptive and presented a picture of a man's world so accurate that I repeatedly found myself nodding my head and saying, "Damn, she nailed that. Damn, she really understands." Lots of stuff I have always believed to be true but never heard a woman say. I plan to read her book. I was very impressed.

Just watched an interview with her on CNN. I'll probably pick up this book this week.

Yeah, I just saw the same interview on CNN.com - she is remarkably perceptive. And she looked very convincing as a man. Had I seen her on the street in drag, I would not have looked twice. The thing that really struck me was the way she completely understood how hard it is to be a man dating hetero women - especially the emotional toll that repeated (and often callous) rejection can take on a person's heart. Men are too proud to talk about it. I'm glad she did. I may actually drop her an email to personally thank her for saying on TV what we are not allowed to admit.

I can honestly say that I've fortunately never experienced repeated rejection. I started dating my wife in college...so I've never really been "out there".
In college if one girl turned you down, another one was just 5 minutes away...
