dangit, I became a statistic :(

I forgot to notify my health insurance agent that I had moved to Lincoln until 3 months after I had moved, so I got that taken care of awhile back. Just called him up, changed the address, endo story, right? Well, I get a letter in the mail saying that I since I moved to Lincoln my premiums should have been less so I overpaid during that gap and they sent me a check.

Fast forward to January 1, my premium didn't come out of my account like it normally does. I figured that maybe part of my overpayment meant that next month's had already come out. When I over-pay on my other bills, usually that's what they do, so I figured this was the same.

Today I look at my account and it hadn't come out for Feb either, so I called the company, and sure enough, my account had been cancelled. I've been health-insurance-less since December. My agent misunderstood and made the change of address into a cancellation, thinking I'd get new insurance in Lincoln.

So, for the next two weeks (renewal paperwork processing), I'm one of those uninsured slobs we all feel sorry for.

If only you lived in utopian Canada.

Get a new agent, one who knows what they are doing. There is a big difference between change of address and canceling it for good and this person should have known that.

You are paying them for good service and should something happen, you are in the brown stuff.

Young, single males don't need health insurance, it's a bad bet.. Ride the snake Byran, keep your money.

Maybe if they're sedentary and live in their parent's basement. I've always been active in sports, and when I blew out my ACL years ago, I was glad I had insurance. All told, that little incident cost almost $60k

In winter, might agree with you! It gets too damm cold up there in winter. I used to live SE of Omaha and the wind is just brutal.

Spring, summer and early fall is nice in the area...

That said, its better than North Dakota! :)
