Cool Another dating thread, meeting women after 40?

Well my latest lady friend canceled our little vacation together and this seems to be an ongoing theme for her so it looks like I'm out looking for companionship again.

And I turn forty nine next week!

I have a good job, a house, and I'm a pretty fun guy to hang with but meeting women as an adult just seems to be a total PITA.

My biggest problem may be my job as a electronic technician (yawn) at a science museum (you don't look gay).
Middle aged women seem to get turned on by guys with really cool jobs (like Joeseka and Singpilot).

Anyway I'm just venting... any suggestion or support appreciated.

There's usually a good reason a woman is single into her 30's and beyond- and more times than not it's not pleasant. Funny, women after 40 are usually pretty damn forward. It's like clockwork when you're out- You can easily tell who's biological clocks are ticking. They just come up and invade your space...Doesn't matter where they are at they just go for it.

If a real relationship is what you are after, it's doubtful it'll be worthwhile to meet in bars and places like that - those never last. The keepers are the ones you just happen to meet when you're working or just doing your own thing.

Can you still get it up at that advanced age???

Just kidding, am a few older than you.

Try Yahoo personals or Match.com

Like Randy said above, I will not go out with anyone above 40 who has not been married. If they have lasted that long then something is wrong.

There are a lot of nice ladies out there 40 and above, just have to meet them. Thats the hard part...

Scott.

Just to set you straight on the pilot thing. Am also over 50 and single. Try talking (usually long distance) to a relationship from the places we travel. 'Hi honey, had lunch in Paris, dinner in Rome, was a horrible day, lousy air traffic, the euro is way up again, I got a room next to the elevator again with no view, and the boss wants to stay another 4 days. How was your day?'

Won't take long for her to 'cancel' the vacation you have planned too. Especially since your idea of vacation is staying home, haha.

The match.com and Yahoo! stuff is OK too, but be careful there. There was a scandal not too long ago about scheduling recently cancelled female lookers to new (paid) male accounts to keep you interested. Some 'schill bidding' going on there too.

Women have a radar that is even better than the Gaydar. It warns them about the recently separated guy over 40. Relax. It will happen.

Spend some money on you. Update the underwear drawer. New shoes, let a trusted female friend go with you to buy some clothes. Pay someone female (MollyMaid) to come clean your kitchen and bathroom.

Try to not call ex's.

Rotsa Ruck.

Michael,

Much the same thing but I am real particular. Found a lady in my area, spends half her time in Europe, other half in AZ and speaks 4 languages. Not normal, nor do I want a "normal lady" so to speak.

They are out there, but as you say you have to weed through the rest. I could care less about a one night stand, want a relationship and find someone to spend my life with.

Its a beyotch with our traveling but it has benefits. When I land on 28 Feb at home, plan on taking the rest of the spring off. Been out almost 5 months with 10 days break in-between, so hope its worth it.

See you at Vegas, your A$$ better be there! You biking or driving it?

Scott, do an advanced search and narrow it down to the type of lady you like. Makes a difference.

Joe

Hey... you been looking in my underwear drawer!

Have had a maid for a few years but otherwise you are right on, need to get back on a heathy diet and exersize program. Freashen up the closet and clean out the junk piles around the house.

and I wear women underwaer because it's comfortable damb it!

Yeah I'm 47 and all I find is "someone to take care of me" or (first date) " I would really like to see your house" Or at the end of the date I have to hold her up because she is snockerd. It is harder as we get older. I'm not sweating it anymore. Casual dating and no expectations. I'm happier now than I have ever been

Be yourself(unless you're an idiot).
Seriously, I went for two years after my divorce without dating anyone. Just about when I stopped looking and worrying about it, I met my wife.

The others said it too. Update your clothes and even the hair. Dude, you drive a Porsche. That HAS to attract a few chicks. Don't look desperate.
Ever seen the movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"?

Close match to my own story without the divorce (just had enough of the game). I will say the personals will bear fruit if you just want to play the game. I was in my early 30's then, will be interesting to hear if early 40's are any different for the single guy.

Try rapid dating or something similar. You meet interesting chics and it brings up the numbers you're meeting as well as cuts the time you're meeting them in.

Much easier than going online for the crapshoot that is the internet.

Hey, I drive a Porsche and Jag. I date in a Honda station wagon. If the ladies do not like the car then they do not ever get a ride in any of the nice toys. I want them to like me, not the frigging car nor the money.

Regarding the Russian ladies... Oh wow. American ladies can learn a lot from them. Nuff said...

Scott, you looking for a soulmate or just a piece of a$s now and then? Match can be a gold mine. I've done pretty well there and the 40+ ladies were great! It was just a novelty thing for me, but oh, the memories. There are a lot of idiots on Match, but some very nice women too. After about a year on Match, I ended up dating several women who all worked within about a 3 block radius from my office. One is a smoking hot 48 yr. Filipina travel agent, who works in my bldg. We're still on good terms. Another is a 42 yr. old Filipina who looks 25, has every class III gun in the movie "Heat" and comes to the range with me once in a while (that's all nowadays) and a few more closer to my own age - I'm 34. A 41 Japanes doctor I dated introduced me to a friend of her who has 10 Ferraris and 10 Porsches. I don't talk to her anymore, but her friend and I became great friends and we hang out all the time. Match really can be a gold mine.
