Question Placing a SUPERBOWL BET - how to?

I don't live in Nevada.....how do I place a bet with a reputable major betting house (Caesars'/Harrah's, etc) from here in WA State?

OK, got to this point:

http://www.sportsbook.com/sportsbook/lines_nfl.html

Past this....what ARE the bets, ie if I pick Seattle, what is the payout?
The site is a jumble, but it is the largest and has perhaps the best reputation and who I'll choose to place a bet with.

Help!

Have you logged in? You do have to setup an account and give a CC number. Once you sign up there is a tutorial that steps you through the process of placing a bet...

Craig,

If you bet money line a Seattle bet is paying $155 on every $100 bet. This means Seattle must win outright (no point spread). This means you'll give them $100 up front and if you win they'll give you $255 back.

If you take the points you win at a 1 to 1 ration but you will have to pay juice if you lose say 5%-10%. So a losing $100 bet will actually cost you$110 or so.

These sites usually charge a fee to "withdraw" your winnings too, so be prepared. Personally I would just find a local bookie.

Not a problem, thanks all - actually Paul got it; that site makes you register etc before learning what the bet dealies are. But then again, most would already know.

Hmm, I think the $100 to win $255 sounds like a plan.
Or maybe just a good way to lose $100 ;-)

A story here, from some time ago. No names mentioned to protect the guilty. Two guys pull up to a P-car dealership in a Caddy, walk in. The sales manager of the P-car dealership hands these BIG guys a thick envelope. Sales manager is a friend, so I asked what was up. "Oh, they collect for a bookie. I made the mistake of starting to bet on pro football. For a while, I was really good at picking them, and these guys paid like clockwork. But lately, I haven't been so good at picking them. I had to take a pay advance, tell my ex wife that the child support would be late, and borrow from my roomate as well as not being able to pay rent for a few months. I tell ya, Paul, I've learned my lesson. I'll NEVER bet on a sports event again."
Gambling isn't fun...it's a business. And those in the business don't lose. I learned from my friend's experience. Well, that, and a 21st birthday trip to Reno.

You got that right.
---------------------------------------------
I go to Reno 1X a year for a family get-together.
I bring about $80 to play with, and visit most of the time and swim in the pool ...

This + the superbowl bet is all I do - I've seen too many get hooked. Chances are I'll lose the $100 ---- www.sportsbook.com (and all others) has an amazing array of statistical information they compile to produce the odds.

'My' local team, what the heck, let's bet on 1 for fun.

Chances are, the Steelers will either win or win by less than 4.
They can bank on that

take what you would bet, instead buy some beer and brats and have a party with some buds and a honey...money better spent - save the betting for the sweet 16

Craig,

If you are interested in wagering only 100.00 and you are taking the Hawks, I will take the Steelers at the current line(-4) for that amount.

You win, I will mail you a check--you can PM me the address.
I win, you mail me a check, I will PM you my address.

Just post back in this thread if you agree--I will not welch(welsh?), and I trust you--plus we have all these witnesses.

PS--Go Steelers

Habitual sports betting is a losing proposition, no two ways about it. I hope I didn't imply otherwise.

Hmm, Eric I might be interested.

Since I rarely gamble - tell me exactly what -4 means - from both sides.
What must happen etc

Craig,

The Steelers are favored by 4 points, so the current line is Seahawks +4, (or Steelers -4) simply meaning the Seahawks start the game with 4 points already on the board. The Seahawks could lose the game, but still cover the spread, if the Steelers don't win by at least 4 points--say 28-31--add the 4 points to the Seahawks score, and you end up 32-31, thus winning the bet.
In the event of a push--say 17-21...the bet will become void. Push is just betting slang for a tie.
Typically if gambling with a bookie, a push results in you losing the juice only--as was mentioned--juice is typically 10% of your bet, so if you bet 100 on the game, and it pushed, you would only pay 10.00 If you lost the bet, you would pay 110.00(which is your wager + the juice).

So, if you are interested, our wager would be 100.00 even.
I will take the Steelers at -4. You will take the Seahawks.
No juice, if it ends in a push--the wager is void.

Sound good?

PS--in case any Feds are reading this, we are talking about 100 peanuts.

I'd be more worried about the bookies than the feds. Bookies can get nasty if they're cut out of the action.
