Has "SPEED" TV dropped WRC coverage?

What the heck?!

...... I missed the Monte and now also the Swedish rally?....it used to come on in abbreviated form through SPEED ususally same day coverage. Maybe repeats a week later too.

I see the trend...first you could see daily coverage ( 3 days/ event)...dropping down to daily coverage...no NONE ?

Oh yeah... I *really* want to see 24/7 of NASCAR.... :(

Speed is mostly NASCAR & Reality shows now. I am only keeping it for F1. Much of their old programming is carried by OLN.

Yeah, I think they dropped it. At least that's what the petition circulating said. Luckily OLN carried some Dakar coverage.

Don't worry, they'll probably have a "Texas Hardtails" marathon to ease your pain...

Speaking of the Speed channel do you guys have a problem with sometimes getting the video, but no sound. This happens to me 3-4 times a year normally lasting 2-3 days. Happening to me right now. All other channels will work just fine.

speedch is becoming more and more annoying. however, I don't believe the petition is going to do any good, as the channel is a for-profit business, and the program directors will always show those programs which most people will watch. (remember, it's all about selling commercial time) NASCAR et al will still bring in tons more viewers than a few thousand signatures on that petition

My point is this...even for guys who *like* NASCAR...the continuous NASCAR ( and NASCAR type) programming doesn't even allow the guy who *wants* it a potty break w/o missing something....

I say we ALL lose if this is what it comes down to..... I mean , really.... as much as SPEED/ NASCAR are one in the same.... how much revenue can they lose to aire a few non-NASCAR programs?? Saturation programming will alienate the NASCAR fan too, in time.

And to think...the whole concept of *cable* is to get narrow-focus programming that the "big -networks" ( at the time) couldn't focus on. BIG DEAL....do we now need another option because cable has gotten too big???

What are my options to get WRC coverage?

Some people are hosting the excellent Eurosport coverage in Divx format. The avi's are about 250MB each for each day, plus a preview and wrapup show. If you're into the whole torrent scene, they're apparently everywhere.

A quick Google pulled this up:

Speed is owned by Fox, Fox owns rights to NASCAR. Reportedly, Fox lost money on NASCAR last year, hence the 24/7 coverage on Speed hyping the next race. Somehow I doubt that will help, who the hell watches those shows? Even NASCAR fans have to have their limits. I know they lost me as a viewer.

AND when not saturating us with with NASCAR they are pimping bad movies with marginal automobile content!

Makes me wish someone would come out with a competing channel.

Technically I don't HATE NASCAR, I find the cars interesting... however I would much raher watch F1, WRC, SCCA, CART, etc.
