VW guys & Machinists - what do I have here?
I bought a bunch of machine tooling from a defunct VW shop. I don't know anything about machine tools. Some of the stuff I can figure out it's purpose, other stuff I have no idea. I was told that these were Gene Berge tools.

You have what look like R8 collets for a Bridgeport style mill, a couple of fly cutters with R8 arbors, some specialty fly cutters (qty 8) and some T nuts for clamping to the table. Not worth much unless one of the cutters is specific to some machining op on a VW engine.

In the first pic:
top right - for surfacing (flycutter, I think) top left - fit into the head of a milling machine (you put mills and bits inside these collets) bottom left - nuts for the table of a milling machine (you fasten parts to your table with these) - on second thought these may just be parts of a jig for specific machining bottom right - beats me (maybe these are for flycutting cylinder heads) open the heads up for larger P/C Real machinists will get you straight These parts aren't worth much, unfortunately. EDIT: didn't see BG's post |
Thanks for the input. I listed them on the samba and I was actually surpised by the number of inquiries I got.

Anything made by Gene Berg fetches a premium in the VW community.
His shifters brand new were only $89 Now they are going from $200 to $250 used. |
