About a year or so ago, I read an interesting article about Hussein's government, and how his top guys may have been pulling off the kind of operation Halliburton and The Carlyle Group pulls off here. Claiming to have purchased chemicals with which to make chemical weapons, but syphoning it off to certain bank accounts in a middle european country. Apparently the government was rife with such goings on, but that was the price Saddam was willing to pay for unquestioning loyalty, if he knew about all of them, which is doubtful.

Think about it. Do we know about all of the graft in the US government? No. Is it likely that there was graft in Iraq during the whole of the time that Hussein was in power? Yes, without question.

Just part of the puzzle.
