I doubt the artist is a true Porsche enthusiast but I think the metaphor is that the 911 has become bloated over the past 40 years.

I took it as a comment on perhaps the truth behind a mid-life crisis - fat, bloated, ugly, out of shape and trying to throw money at material compensation. The 911 is the perfect choice, because it's become a symbol of a mid-life crisis.
