Renting an RV-Where to go-what to do?

My wife has a problem with altitude so no flying or driving across the cd. Plus we want to bring our dog. We are renting a big RV (we're in Wisconsin) for a couple of weeks and we want to either go southeast like South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, or Southwest to Texas and maybe the Grand Canyon. We're not big on crowds or typical tourism (no Disney, Seaworld, etc). We would like to experience some warm weather and interesting environments. Suggestions?

Best driving trip I've ever done was Grand Canyon trip. Granted we flew into Las Vegas
But central and Northern Arizona cant be beat. So heading south and west from Wisconsin looks like a good trip to me.

bob..you may recall i recently sold my 35-footer. i recommend staying in corps of engineers parks. if you have a parent over 60, get them to get a senior card. you can stay for $15 a night instead of the usual $30..it adds up on the road over time. if they ask where the 'geezer' is, you just mumble something about them following and meeting you later..lol. most of the time they don't even ask. maybe i should be offended, since i'm only 40!

anyway, i wrote a fiction novel set principally in the virginia outer banks. never actually been..researched the whole thing, but would love to see that area. as a former professional pilot, i've been everywhere, but particularly liked grand junction, colorado. colorado wine country (believe it or not) is there too..there's a national park there that's absolutely divine..canyons forever and great trails, rivers, etc. i swooped my learjet all across it coming and going..wish i had the camera shots with me. another place i;ve always wanted to spend some time is monument valley...looks like another world and where you probably know they filmed so many old westerns. anyway, good luck and have fun..i'm jealous!

mucho traffic east of the Mississippi and it's only decent from a tourist point of view in early spring before the bugs take hold.

the SW Nat'l Parks are plentiful, interesting, and relatively easy driving in off season.
