3 local Toledo towelies just got arrested

Great, now it is in my own backyard! I worked with a Syrian guy in Toledo until he got layed off. He now works at one of the local muck marts with his fellow America haters. My guess is that he knows these Islamofreaks, worse yet, he and I got into heated debates after he more or less was sympathetic with the 9/11 highjackers. He also knows where I live, I hope he knows my family and I all are good shots!

Hell, in early 2001, I dated a Palestinian chick who was somewhat anti-American. It was a train wreck of a relationship, but I did my patriotic duty, and now some poor suicide bomber's gonna come up one short when he gets to heaven :p

Tim Hancock 02-21-2006 01:24 PM

Thanks for doing your duty Thom, I feel a little better now!:D

I hear ya, unfortunately it is all I will hear about for the next couple of days on the local news, radio and the guys at work who will all be talking about our ex "in house" America hater.

Toledo is close to Detroit and together they have a large population of Arab "Americans". Deep down, I know they are not ALL bad, but I guess I have been biased by my years of working with a couple of them. I just do not trust any of them at the moment.

3 Toledo men indicted on charges of plotting to kill U.S. forces in Iraq

BLADE STAFF

Three Toledo men — two from Jordan, one from Lebanon — were indicted this morning in federal court on charges that they were conspiring to attack U.S. forces in Iraq as part of a “holy war” that included raising money, and recruiting and training others to fight.

Charged were: Mohammad Zaki Amawi, a Jordanian who lived in Toledo until August; Marwan Othman El-Hindi, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Jordan; and Wassim I. Mazloum, who lived in Toledo after leaving Lebanon in 2000.

With the help of “trainer,” an unnamed informant who came forward and testified before a federal grand jury with crucial information, federal authorities allege that the trio were training in Ohio to attack targets in the Middle East — including U.S. forces — and had bomb-making and other weapons videos.

Mr. Mazloum operates a car business in Toledo with his brother and the indictment alleges that Mr. Mazloum said he could use his car business “as a cover for traveling in and out of Iraq.”

The men will have initial hearings today in federal courts in Toledo and Cleveland, according to Dave Bauer, assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

The indictment spells out that the men began plotting their training in 2004. In August, Mr. Amawi and “the trainer” flew to Jordan with the alleged intent of delivering five laptop computers to “mujadieen ‘brothers.’ ”

State records show Mr. Mazloum registered two car dealerships — City Auto on North Reynolds Road and Ram Auto on Monroe Street.

Yassar Elkechen, contacted at Ram Auto, identified himself as Mr. Mazloum’s uncle. He called the allegations “100 percent false” and said his nephew was a “good boy” who was in the mechanical engineering program at the University of Toledo.

The indictment is unrelated to allegations leveled by the U.S. Treasury department that KindHearts, a local charity, was funneling money to the terrorist groups of Hamas and al-Quaida. The treasury department has frozen KindHearts’ assets amid additional investigation.

However, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said the investigation of KindHearts was coordinated with the terror investigation out of the Toledo Joint Terrorism Task Force. The indictment claims that the men considered creating a “dummy” nonprofit organization to raise money for terrorism.

The indictment also alleges Mr. Amawi twice threatened to kill or inflict bodily harm against President Bush. The plot began in November 2004, prosecutors said.

In comments in Washington this afternoon, Mr. Gonzales said the arrest of the three men and their indictment made the country “safer.” He declined to answer whether the investigation was helped by warrantless surveillance.

John Pisotle, deputy director of the FBI, credited the arrests in part on “enhanced surveillance” but did not elabortate during the press conference at th U.S. Department of Justice attended by Mr. Gonzales and Gregory White, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Toledo-based charity with Hamas link padlocked
http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060219/BREAKINGNEWS/60219009
A Toledo-based charity was padlocked today as the Treasury Department ordered U.S. banks to freeze its assets amid government charges it funnels money to the militant organization Hamas.

KindHearts, which has offices in the Westgate area of West Toledo, allegedly is connected with the Hamas-affiliated Holy Land Foundation and the al-Qaida-affiliated Global Relief Foundation, the Treasury Department said. The government took similar action against those groups in late 2001.

Under the government action, U.S. citizens are barred from doing business with KindHearts.

The Treasury Department seized the group's offices and posted notices on its doors.

But in an interview with The Blade in December, a KindHearts official described an ongoing Congressional investigation as having no evidence of problems. Jihad Smaili, a Toledo native and Cleveland lawyer said then that KindHearts was hurt by "guilt by association."

"To put it simply, KindHearts is not connected in any way with a terrorist group or individual," Mr. Smaili said then.

The group provides clothing, food , school supplies, and other aid through branch offices in Lebanon, Pakistan, and Palestine.

The government claims KindHearts officials have coordinated with Hamas leaders and made contributions to Hamas-affiliated organizations. The United States considers Hamas, now the most powerful political group in the Palestinian parliament, a terrorist group.

"KindHearts is the progeny of Holy Land Foundation and Global Relief Foundation, which attempted to mask their support for terrorism behind the facade of charitable giving," Stuart Levey, treasury undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said in a statement.

A message left today with Mr. Smaili was not immediately returned.

"towelies"

Its offensive, and undermines your argument.

The majority of people who wear turbans or safas on their heads are hindus, not Muslims.

My wife, an Indian, did not find the term amusing, especially because she 50 times more anti-muslim than the lot you you.

EDIT: That being said, anyone espousing 'death to American' living on American soil needs to make travel plans, or be 'encouraged' to do so.

Sorry if I offended you or your wife Harddrive, it was not my intent. Other more offensive labels are currently popping into my head presently as I just got a solid hour of local news coverage pumped into my brain.

They interviewed the family of one of these guys and they all claimed it is impossible for their son/brother to be involved with something like that due to the fact that they claim he is a "good" Muslim. They claim they would have known if he was involved .... just goes to show that if they can fool their family, they can fool anyone.

The local news claims more arrests may follow. I hope they put away a bunch of them.
