I think the smoke is coming from the 944 engine melting - a 911 would rip a trench that could used for watering the local fields!

The engines are pretty tough if you keep the timing belt on right. The transaxle, on the other hand...

Sounds like someone has an axe to grind. After all these years, some 911 drivers will still take every chance to badmouth a 944.

Nah, I really don't care... I just wonder why some 911 guys target the 944 but are okay with, say, the 914.

My guess is either Mercury poisoning or Laudenum addiction.
