Well here's the official answer: Popular Mechanics Article |
Gas saving gadgets don't save on fuel?
[Gunnery Sargeant Hartman]Well, no $hit.[/Gunnery Sargeant Hartman] |
All we have to do now is to track down all the blood sucking parasites who sell this crap and slap the living stuff out of them for being such a drain on society and for nearly destroying my faith that humankind is worth trying to save. But I mean that in a nice way.

I just started driving 55 in my truck. It saves me like 15 bucks a week.
And I never even had to buy some miracle pill. |
Awesome. Not only do the devices not do what they say, but the best that you can hope for is that they have no effect. At worst they could potentially destroy your vehicle or reduce your hp and fuel economy by 20%.
The sad thing is that the same people that buy all of the pills that I get emails for probably also buy this crap. Anyone remember "David Horowitz Fight Back" a TV show from the 70's or 80's. All he did was test these sort of claims. Apparently he's still going http://www.fightback.com/ I remember he embedded a timex in asphalt once to see if the commercials were true, and they did take a licking and keep on ticking. He also fired a high powered rifle at some masterlocks and they passed too. |
