So Cal automotive treasure hunting

So. Cal. truly is a car nut's paradise.

On incredible area is Costa Mesa. So many awesome machine shops, body shops, mechanics, fabricators, etc. Anything auto related is being done there.

A lot of cool cars are hidden there, too.

It would be an interesting to take a day or two and search the back lots of all these places. I bet you'd find some real gems that could be bought for a song.

I was at a shop today. Here's a glimpse of what I'm talking about this was just at one place and I only snapped a couple of pics.

I don't see this 928 coming back soon! Last registered in '97.

Pretty solid looking E. Last registered mid-90s.

Also was a '69 Camaro rusting away, and a 55 Speedster that looked about half there.

You guys have it easy. Rust isn't so much of an issue.

In WA. state, if it's outdoors it's probably wasted - we have to start looking in garages and behind fences.

My Pontiac was under a tree, in this Chevy dude's backyard, complete and flooded from rain since 1997 (AC car from AZ). Towed it to the shop, power washed the car inside and out, poured some gas down the carb, fresh battery and it fired up. We were driving around without even changing the oil!

Not to mention all the ones kept locked up indoors. There's an old dealer off Superior Ave which is now just a private garage/showroom for one guys Ferrari collection new and old.
