Largest Minority to Participate in the Confederate Army...

Black freemen and slaves, of course, about 40,000 of them. But, little is known about the largest white minority group in the Confederate Army. Always shocks most people.

I'd bet on Yankee out of my State as being more likely. There were Jews in the South virtually from the beginning of serious settlements, particularly in South Carolina and Louisiana. The second ranking man in the Confederate government (the VP was not second ranking), Judah P. Benjamin, was jewish.

And what point are you trying to make?

That you, Mr. Fenton, are no longer beating your mother.

Jared at Pelican Parts 02-26-2006 01:58 PM

As was your question.

i'm confused by this seemingly pretty personal exchange. jared asked what was the point of the thread...now unless there is some 'history' between you two online, it sounds like a fair question to me. pat, i know with many of your views being considered farther out on the 'distribution curve' than many here, you get more than your share of attacks, many of them personal..but why retaliate in kind? besides, i didn't see any offensiveness in jared's question.

I have no problem with him. I really was wondering what point he was trying to make.

Quite honestly, im wondering why he brought up my mother. Try saying that to my face, pal.

I can see that I've offended you, my apologies.

accepted. Watch your ass in the future.

bigchillcar 02-26-2006 06:10 PM

class decision, pat...you can bring out some rather volatile emotions from folks on here with your myriad posts, but i find your intelligence indisputable, regardless of your relative positions and am confident of the sincerity in your apology to jared. you are clearly a person of strong convictions, but i think with a moral compass generally pointing in the right direction where others are concerned, even those of whom hold differing points of view. anyway, nice to see two gents make up. ;)

Having had my grandmother brought up recently here on OT in a MUCH more offensive fashion, I applaud Pat for being a gentleman and apologizing when he realized his post was (unintentionally) offensive.

There was no need for the "watch you ass" comment when accepting the apology, but I guess none of us is perfect.
