65º

It's supposed to be 65º tomorrow. This, up from 20º-40º the last few weeks. I'm so tempted to take out the P-car.

But then again, once I reinstate my collision\liability coverage for the year, I can't cancel it for storage (and keep my comp active) until November.

Also, I'll be filling up my garage with my father's worldly possessions pretty soon, making getting the P-car out impossible for a few months.

That's warm......here in Michigan supposed to be mid 30's this weekend (will feel like a heat wave, trust me). The battery goes back in for a start/warm up - music to my ears.:)

It's supposed to be 65º here today, but we're coping with this cold snap somehow. It should warm back up in a couple days :)

I used to live in SoCal. I don't miss the migraines from the smog.

masraum 02-28-2006 08:49 AM

Hmm, high today - 78, tomorrow - 79, 79, 76, 79, 81, (cold snap) 70, 70, 71, 74

That's our 10 day forecast. half and half mixed "mostly sunny" and "partly cloudy".

Of course, this summer when it's 98* and 98% humidity you guys can make fun of us with your summer that tops out at 85* and 50% humidity.

SmileWavy

Ya'll come on down now ya hea.

Legion,

I take it the trip to bring back your Dad's stuff went OK.

Here on the East coast, we had been wondering when winter was going to hit. Up until the first week in February..still nothing. We've got it now. With the blowing snow, I've had to blow out the driveway 2/day to get the wife out to work and back in again. Plus its about 10 below freezing with a wind-chill.
Oh well, just a few more weeks and it will be maple syrup season. :)

Les

Legion!

I grew up in SoCal. I almost hate to admit it, but the smog you and I remember is pretty much gone. There are still days when some weather trend (inversion, and a lack of wind) trap pockets of bad air in local areas, but nothing like the old days.

Have been sailing on Santa Monica Bay all my life, and it has gone from a cold dead bay (no signs of life, lots of floating trash and debris) to being fully alive again. Large schools of fish, and the porpoises and whales that follow. The only signs of trash now are for a few days after a gully-washer rain (11 days a year) and you'll see whatever was in the street gutters that is small enough to get past the screens in the concrete-lined rivers that empty into the bay. That washes up on the beaches, and is 'groomed' by the cities that keep their beaches clean.

You'd be amazed.

Still two weeks away. I was trying to say that in two weeks I won't be able to get my car out of the garage so there's no point in reinstating the insurance.

quiet sing...

everyone...don't listen to him. Smog is unbearable here...I'm coughing as I type. And the water is horribly polluted. No need to buy syringes, I just pick 'em up on the beach and bring 'em home.

singpilot 02-28-2006 10:02 AM

Gawd, I almost undid 30 years of progress.

Guys, sorry, I screwed up. It's still a ****** mess here in SoCal.

Stay away. When it rains here it's Bush's fault.

Thanks, Todd, for reminding me.

masraum 02-28-2006 11:03 AM

don't worry, these days it's not the smog or the earthquakes that keep people out, it's the cost of housing. I paid $75k for my 2000sf house +2car garage on .35 acres. I think it's up to about 135K these days. It's in a decent neighborhood. Probably don't even need to lock the doors and windows.

I tore a door frame out the other day to put a new door in. The frame and moulding that was around the door were oak. Damn, those were the days.

Rot 911 02-28-2006 11:49 AM

You CA guys didn't get all the good weather this winter. Here in mid-MO we had the mildest winter on record. No snow, almost every day over 50 degrees except for one week in December and last week. Today 70, tomorrow 75.

dhoward 02-28-2006 12:09 PM

Crap.
The little umbrella just fell out of my foo-foo drink onto my shorts.
Pass the sunscreen, Kurt.

legion 02-28-2006 12:10 PM

You guys are only 150 miles from me!

How can it be so much warmer1?

dhoward 02-28-2006 12:13 PM

Umm...
Durbin's initiative to keep global warming out of Illinois?
