157 MPG for only $13,000

Drawbacks: The base version has only 20hp out of a two cylinder turbodeisel. 0-60 in 20 seconds, but it gets up to 157mpg.

The GT version uses a three cylinder turbodiesel and gets 50hp, 0-60 in 9 seconds, but only gets up to about 87mpg.

Light, right above 1000lb. Mid engine, rear wheel drive. Opens like the BMW Isetta.

0-60 in 20 seconds ...............................

A more powerful $17,800 Leromo GT 0-60 in 9 seconds.

Gotta go with the GT in North America.

does it come with a free georoter

Holy cow, I've wanted to design something like this one. The body work is very plain, but quite well done for it not being a sports car.

I think that it is awesome and would definately get one. If only it was built in Stutgart. Anyone have some interior shots?

Also how can a 20 hp car go 100 mph and a 40 hp go as fast as my 911? Amazing!

FrayAdjacent911 02-28-2006 07:48 AM

I'd definitely consider the GT version for a daily driver/commuter vehicle. Their site looks like they're supposed to have interior shots, but the link is cold. I suppose they're working on it.

I think it's cool because it's all technology that we already have, just put to use more efficiently.

Top speed is an aero game. Your 911 is at least four times less aero dynamic. Although I have looked up any numbers of area and drag. Just looking at it I can see they have channeled air very effeciently, I have drawings I've done of a car with similar over/under profile. It also had no side doors, which allow a car to have a lighter and stronger structure, especialy in side impacts.

The same MPG for $1,500. Available today:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141151335.jpg

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think its cool and I would get one!
One question though.

What if you have to drive in a hilly area like in the rockies or something. How is that thing going to get out of its own way on steep grades?

kach22i 02-28-2006 10:09 AM

They said the car will have an airbag, but if the rest of the structure is not up to snuff - what would be the point?

Safety requirements account for about 1,000 lbs of any car.............they had to of met lower standards.

Perhaps the old motorcycle is safer - no illusions.

You forget, most cars have side doors. They are using a structure that eliminates many weakpoints of a conventional car. Also , do to the componets being so light, things like engine mounts, and the suspension, do not need to be as tough either.

Most American's today, like a door that goes all the way down to floor level, and up to the roof, and is long, this makes an area of the car that is not very fun for a chassis engineer. They simply eliminated it.

So you crawl in the back over the seats?

Maybe someone could work it out... we know the GT has 50hp and weighs about 1000lb. Add a 200lb driver, calculate for a 10% grade for 1/4 mile and see how much work would need to be done to get the vehicle up that grade. Mind that such a calculation would likely not account for inertia, and would consider the car stopped at the bottom of the grade.

dhoward 02-28-2006 11:19 AM

Does it come with a free generator?

I could not get their site to work for me and show the cabin open.

Could someone please post a picture?

Safety

Its great crumple zone and its stiff passenger cell make Loremo more than safe.

Loremo's linear cell structure meets all static requirements to crash safety and driving dynamics. This structure weighs only 95 kg and consists of only few sheets metal parts and can thus be produced at very low cost. The structure has been patented in many countries (patent no. PCT/EP98/01114).
Three solid longitudinal support bars have a low weight and a higher stiffness than would be the case if there were side doors in the middle. Even in the case of a side impact, they will provide excellent protection. The pyramidal transverse support bar does not only effectively increase the protection against side impact but also makes the structure torsionally stiff to a high extent. Loremo's innovative structure allows for a great crumple zone of 600 mm which extremely reduces passenger load.

The graphics show a 50 km/h collision with a static barrier having a 40 % overlap. The dashboard is deformed by approximately 150 mm only.
Thus, it is highly probable that it will also withstand the 65 km/h offset crash with a soft barrier without major deformations of the dashboard.

Lets just look at some numbers for a moment. You've got a 2+ 2 seat(?!) vehicle, under 470kg, with a height of about 40 inches, a width of 50 inches and a total length of 11 1/2 feet. Granted, a 20 hp 2 cylinder turbo diesel doesn't take up a lot of room, neither does a low-torque 5-speed, but unless they've got the whole drivetrain packaged into something similar to the space taken up by a golf cart motor, I think the only market would be for folks under 5'-5".
I suspect their milage claims could be duplicated by anyone weighing 100 lbs or less, driving at 35 mph across a billiard table, while drafting behind a minivan.
Other than that, and the fact getting into the thing would be more than most folks would put up with, I kinda like it.

Heck, I wish VW would produce the EcoRacer. THAT would be a fun car to drive, and efficient to boot!

What you don't understand, is it doesn't need to draft behind a mini van to not have a lot of aero loss. Traveling at speed, the car is going to be very effecient.

They fixed the 3d view and interior view. Has alot of stylish elements like the Zonda. I still want one.
