Need iPod help.....please....

I bought about 15 tunes from MSN Music last night, they downloaded into my laptop just fine, but in WMA format. My iPod will not take them. When I tried to convert them to MP3, I got an error message. Someone suggested I look it up on versiontracker.com, but I can't make that page open. Anyone know what to do here? Thanks.

If the files have DRM protection, burn them to a CD, then import the CD into MP3 format. For an iPod though, don't you want them into .m4a or AAC?

(Watching with interest. My Daughter just received one for her birthday. Gotta figure it out.)

mp3 works fine on an iPod. AAC is a "better" compression format though...

Great. I'll try all this when I get home tonight. Thanks.

I downloaded the program from Moses's suggestion and the conversion failed because of DRM. Can I really just burn it all onto a CD and then convert it that way? Why wouldn't the DRM protection end up on the CD too?

how did you get the wma files?

If you can burn those to an audio cd, iTunes will rip them to mp3 or aac and you'll be all set.

I just inserted the CD and chose iTunes for burning the CD. As soon as I tried to export a song, I got the WMA error message.

windoze media sucks...sorry

when you buy stuff from ITMS you can burn and re rip without issue

Actually, I just got it to work. It took a while and all the converted songs appear as Track 1, Track 2, etc., instead of their real names and artist. But I'll live with it.

Go to I-Tunes instead. It integrates everything, and is MUCH easier to use. You can see the menu on your IPOD and music directory, change all the tags, put them into different catagories, or genres,. just the way to go for an IPOD. and no more cost than MSN. You can rip CDs at a 1/4 of their size into the aac format.

Yes, I had started buying tunes from iTunes, but it's so hard to find stuff on their site. They sell no AC/DC songs at all. I had to get some U2 songs for band practice and could not find them at all on iTunes. I don't think their stuff is easy to navigate at all and that's my #1 criterion.

Rick, if I can partially hijack, I'm having no problem getting music on my iPOD, but the directions say you can transfer your address book to this little monstrocity also. I cannot move my address book into the devil machine. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
