How do you REALLY feel about your job?

I've always thought you should either love your job OR get paid well, but the best case scenario is that BOTH would be true. Just curious about how the Pelicans feel about their employment.

Right now? Very under paid and pissed off. I do have job security tho.....

cantdrv55 03-01-2006 10:02 PM

Though I really love my job, I'd rather be working/driving my 911 any day of the week and twice on the weekends.

nostatic 03-01-2006 10:35 PM

love it

livi 03-01-2006 11:06 PM

Interesting and stimulating but slowly and effectively wearing me down. Criminally lousy paying.

ZOA NOM 03-02-2006 01:21 AM

Love it. Wouldn't trade it for anything but retirement.

svandamme 03-02-2006 04:26 AM

love the job, hate the location

cashflyer 03-02-2006 04:52 AM

I didn't vote for "can't wait to get there" because it is still A JOB.

That being said, it's the second best job I have ever had and it is the best paying job I have ever had. There's never a day that I resent being here.

5 years ago, I was driving a 21 year old pickup that required some sort of tinkering on a weekly basis. But NOW I am driving a 26 year old Porsche that requires some sort of tinkering on a weekly basis..... wait a minute....

I really like this job. It has been an excelent contract for me. I get laid off on friday and it really sucks.

Love my job and am paid a descent amount of money to do something that I would do for free.

That said, I switched careers at age 28 and it was the best thing that I ever did. Yes, its up and down, and aviation is not really stable but thats life.

Oh yea, there are stable jobs. Below is a postcard in German. It says " There really are secure workplaces"...

I really like my job. The Diagnostic Imaging part is great but I despise being on call. However, it's only 1 week every 6 weeks but it just cripples the weekend.

What did you do before?

pwd72s 03-02-2006 07:46 AM

It's not all it's cracked up to be. This waiting for checks to appear in your mailbox, money to come in via wire transfer, etc. Then, there's that thing of being able to do things during the days of the week, avoiding the weekend crowds. It's tough being a senior citizen. Keep working guys...;)

Best job ever. I can't believe they pay me for this! I'm gonna ride this fancy pony till it's back snaps!

Was a sales rep for one of the largest companies in the world of its type and coverered a 17 state terrority. Straight commission and got anywhere from 10-15% on sales. Took it over right out of college and gross sales were $326k. Seven years later when I moved on the sales were over $700k.

I did well enough in the old job to put enough funds away to return to college for 2 years without working while re-training myself. Loved my work but loved flying more.

If you look forwards to going to work most of the time it sure beats the hell out of something you are not happy with.

My job? I like it and I am good at it.

Management is running a little scared lately - so are a few of the co-workers. Merger went though a year and a half ago, now things are running well and cuts are sure to come..

I am the guy in the middle - a group senior to me, and a few good trainees (making a lot less) below me. What can you do? The resume is polished up and I have been taking the headhunter's calls..

I figure they can shoot you, but they cant eat you.:)

I'm on call Mon-Fri 24 hours/day. I generally manage between 5-10 phone calls/night, but have to head back in to work several times a week. Once or twice a week I'll either miss a nights sleep entirely or just get a few hours. We only work every 4th weekend, but weekend call is brutal (covering for three other people.)

Still, it beats unemployment.
