so what can the dubya apologist say about the pre-katrina video conference tapes that were found yesterday? you know, the one where he promised support to the local and state agencies in the days prior to the event? the ones that seem to contradict his statements a couple days after the event when he stated they had no idea how bad it might be...

how come this stuff always comes to light when jon stewart and the daily show are on hiatus?

i will say it again, anyone who still supports this guys is admirable, in that i wish i had some of that unconditional love in my life.

A bit of advise. When the big one hits San Fran (and it is not a question of "if" but "when") you had better be prepared. You, your family, your City and your State. To think that any Feds are going to show up and make it all better - you are kidding yourself.

That tape was sent to the networks last August soon after the hurricane hit. In the tape, Bush was told by Max Mayfield:

"I don’t think anybody can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not, but that’s obviously a very, very grave concern,"

Four days after the hurricane, Bush said:

"‘I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees,"

I guess the media and libs are too dumb to understand the difference between a levee being 'topped' or 'breached'. Or they simply don't care and figure they can again fool the ignorant masses with their bias.

we have become accustom to this administration turning it's back on california (see enron sticking it in us a few years back with rolling blackouts and power prices).

we are prepared as best you can be for something like that, i guess. i have a .12 gauge with cheney shot and slugs, a .38 with a couple hundy rounds, water, a flashlight, and a couple fire extinguishers.

i have been in the bay my entire life, and was not phased by quakes until the 89 one. now they scare the hell out of me.

i still am not sure if you support or are slamming bush for his katrina mistruths. either way, all the best to you and you family too.

Toby: It is scary stuff, I lived in Japan for a little while and felt nothing more than a "roller" but it scared the $%#@ out of me! Right now I look into the World Trade Center pit from my window and figure, when your number is up - it is up..
That being said - I support Bush. Re-do Katrina and everyone would do something different. But the tapes show him saying a lot of nothing. To think that any one person can micromanage every event is to not understand human beings.
