Help!! Show me the light...

I have a two car garage with two standard bulb fixtures. Looks like the bat cave. I was looking into 4' 2 bulb flourescent fixtures because of cost. How many will it take to do the job or should I consider another option?

I'd think 2 4" 2-bulb wouls be fine for general lighting, 4 if you're looking to really brighten it up.

In my place I've got only 4 2-bulb for general lighting which is just fine for a 24x28 area, but I've also got finished/white ceiling and walls. It'd be to you advantage to slobber some bright white paint on the ceiling or to drywall/paint.

928ram - go with something like this. Plenty of light and you can hard wire if you like. You can get tham at Lowes or Home Depot for $10/each. I have 2 in my 3 car garage and it is fine, 3 or 4 would lighten it big time. (BTW - the fans are an upgrade!)

Looks like my garage, without the shelves or organization....

My garage is 25x15 plenty long but kinda tight.
I installed 4 4x2 florescent fixtures and I have plenty of light. If you go with the florescents make sure the bulbs have a high lumen rating. I learned this while shopping for my lights. I just figured bulbs were bulbs but the friendly sales person at my Lowes set me straight. He also recomended me using all 4 footers instead of 2 4 and 1 8footer so I only have to stock 1 size of bulb.
I was shocked to get a sales person who actually knew what he was selling.
