Help: renting a Prosche??

I found this thread - feel like helping a girl out? I can "cut and paste" ideas over to the other thread as required.

Hi everyone: I just joined this forum because I have a question that I hope can be answered here. I dont have much information about cars, and my boyfriend's 25th birthday is coming up, but not too soon, so I still have research time. I was thinking of renting him a 911 twin turbo for a day, I think this will come up to around $500+tax, including insurance. And there is like a $7500 security deposit. This is in the Toronto area. Does anyone know if this is a good deal? I dont know anyone in the business, so I got it from a local rental place. Also, this deal only includes 100 km for the day, is this not too little? $.75 for each extra km. What do you think? is it worth it? He dies everytime we see a Porsche, or at the auto shows!!

Sounds pretty steep to me. Also, with that security deposit you better not scratch it. Pass.

What a business plan! I'll buy exotic cars and rent them to kids. What could go wrong?

I would try for a less expensive car then a 911 Turbo. Are there any minimum number of days?

When I turn 25, I'd like to rent an Elise for 3 days, and go on a road trip. Although, who knows what will be on the rental market by then.

How about flying to someplace else and renting a car. I know Orlando has a place + good weather. Maybe even Vegas. I bet the money she saves would make up for the airfare and the plus would be good weather.

**I have not researched this this was a knee jerk post fueled by vodka.

*** as were the spelling errors. ;)

Finally
So after I looked into all the options provided by you guys (thanks btw) I booked the 911 twin turbo for his 25th birthday on May 18th. I also got him a total interior car cleanig for while he leaves his car at the rental place... I really hope he will like it!
thank you all for your feedback, this was my first time posting something on a forum, and I really got some good information out of it. and he will laugh when I show the thread to him!

Wow. That is just sickening to read. It is just crazy setting some one loose one a car like that.

Very scary.

If the person in question had no respect for the car, and was immature for 25 years old perhaps you would have a point. From what I read in the other thread, from the start - nothing could be further from the truth.
