Delta airline pilot strike question
My wife and I have tickets to Greece on Delta in early May. If the pilots do go out on strike and the flights are cancelled, does Delta have any obligation to put us on another airline, or are we out of luck?

Out of luck

Other airlines ARE obligated by law to take your tickets, but the catch is, only if there are seats available, and of course, they have to be going to the same place and a few other details.

Yep, that's it. The tickets are good, but on a 'space available' basis. The only thing lower than the subcontract janitor flying on a freebie pass is another airline's 'space available'.
Rotsa Ruck. For the record, Delta's pilots set the all time record with their last contract. It was the new 'gold standard' that all the other unions strived to match. In spite of poor earnings, attacks on bread and butter routes by low cost (non-union) carriers, and looming maintenance and flight attendant contracts. In seeming indifference to all of this, the pilots took a large raise. On top of the gold standard contract they already had. There is not a lot of sympathy at the moment for them. |
