My mother's family had a German Shepard when she was very young. The dog would protect my mother at all cost, her parents would literally leave her in a basket on the beach and go swimming. The dog sat next to her for hours on end if it had to, only moving to snarl at the occasional passer-by who got too close. As she grew up the dog would stay by her day in and day out, wait for her to get off the bus from school. One day when she was about 9 her mother looked out to see her in the yard playing tag. My Grandmother saw my mother run by, then her friend chasing her (both laughing) then she noticed the German Shepard in full attack mode crawling up behind the boy. My Grandmother new that this needed to stop so the dog was given to a farmer who lived off in the woods. Sad story but it really shows you the loyalties these dogs have.

Being licked to death by a Golden is a horrible way to die. ;)

My mom kept the choc lab after my parents split. I do feel better knowing he is there with her. He is a huge dog and looks like he would eat you alive, which is good since he dosent have a mean bone in him lol.

A golden retreiver? She'd most likely think a burglar is a new toy to play with! hehehe

Maybe someday I'll get a dog... when I have a house and a yard. I'm thinking Great Dane... :)

Palmer just turned one and not much of a watch dog. Funny though he spends a lot of his idle time watching and will befriend anything. I use ADT for serious security.

I've had a few ferrets that were more vicious than any dog I owned at the same time.

One of the worst... This one will drown the unsuspecting in about three good slurps. :D

azasadny 03-12-2006 04:44 PM

Our three ferrets will lick you to death, but no biting, I won't tolerate a pet that bites.
