E-File Cost $29.90 - What the ****?
 

Ok, I am ranting here but I already paid $35.00 for tax software and then I have to pay another $14.95 to e-file each of my returns. Now for me, I am paying my taxes, filing on-time and by e-filing I would be saving time and money in processing of my return by both Federal/State and yet TurboTax has to charge more money for e-filing. They probably have just lost my business for not disclosing full information.
I think next year, I'll go back to my tax guy, lesson learned and by the way I'd rather give the money to the government in postage then TurboTax.

Stop buying the software and start using the website. I haven't bought TT for five years, and they store last year's data on their server to download straight across for this year's return. You can start your return on any computer with web access, and even stop and re-start your session on any other computer. $29.95 total for Fed & State.

15 bucks start-to-finish. I think it was an extra 6 or something to do state as well.

There are other options out there - don't be so conventional. ;)

You can always do a paper 1040 and get a check sent - pretty sure that's still free too. Otherwise you're buying a service and the rule of "whatever the market will bear" comes into play.

Since I know all you guys make WAY too much money, I don't know if this will help.

www.taxfreedom.com will let you e-file for free if you make < 50K. Most states as well. I just missed the cutoff and it was $40 for both state and fed. Probably some others are cheaper if you can't do the free file but after all the typing I just wanted to be done. The girlfriend was able to file for free though.
