denver, CO. help!

i need to get a gift certificate for a nice (great!) dinner. i am leaning towards, MIZUNA, based on the menu i looked at online. any other ideas? i like a place with a tasting menu. (paired with wine). anything south of $250/for two, would be great.

i dont know denver at all.

I don't know Denver that well either, but I went to school in Boulder. If you wanted to make the treck out to Boulder (30 to 40 minutes) there is a really cool place called, "Flagstaff." It is half way up a mountain and looks over the city of Boulder. It also has one of the largest wine lists in the country. I've been there twice. Once was outstanding the other time really good.

Here is the web site:

I lived in Denver for 5 years and I would rate Barolo on 6th ave to be one of the best. Excellent service and wine selection. They even close the restaurant once a year and take the staff to Italy to eat and taste the wine. Got like the commitment to food and wine.

Cheers!

The Denver Chophouse or the Bukhorn Exchange.

The chophouse is a high-end brew pub that serves great food. Kind of a combination of a microwbrewery and a Morton's.

The Buckhorn Exchange holds Denver's oldest liquor licence. Lots of dead animals on the walls as weall as old pictures of Colorado. You can get rattlesnake, pheasant and buffalo for dinner.

Or Sushi Zanmai in Boulder is worth the drive.

Frasca in Boulder from what I hear. 2 master sommliers should be able to lay waste to the $250 in seconds.

Check eGullet.com for other reccomendations.

The chophouse would be a big slab of meat on your plate. I love it. Elways is nice. There is a trendy new place called North on Clayton Lane it is the current hot spot in Denver.
