I'm thinking about a career in Law Enforcement in the Seattle area. For any of the LEOs on here:

1. What do you like most about the job?
2. What is the most difficult part of the job?
3. What attributes make a good LEO?
4. What should I look for to find a good agency to apply to?

1. Free donuts.
2. Sliding out from behind the steering wheel after eating free donuts.
3. The ability to nap while apprearing to write reports in your car.
4. New cars, tasers, and a chief who likes to fish.

My father is a retired cop/detective and my brother will retire in 4 years as a cop/detective. They both loved their jobs and love the OT, but alot of stress, especially on their marriages. You've really got to be dedicated, of course that's true for many professions (teachers, doctors, nurses, etc...)

For me more than anything, I want to do good things. It isn't about writing tickets for failure to come to a complete stop, it's about responding to calls where I can help people and catching the bad guys.
