Trying To Get Some Local Knowledge On Portland
 

Would any Portlanders on the BBS be willing to talk to me for 20 minutes or so, to share some local knowledge?

As I've mentioned before, we are moving to Portland. I arrived in town yesterday and spent the afternoon driving around some neighborhoods. Everywhere I visited seemed really nice and I'm kind of "at sea" in terms of figuring out where we want to focus the house search.

John, I am not from Portland, but have lived in a number of places over my lifetime. My advice would be to try and rent for 6 months to a year and get to know the place and you will have a much better idea of where you want to live. A local can give you some ideas, but only you know what kind of place really interests you.
