Anyone into "The Shield"? Did you see the season finale?
Whoa! Talk about taking desperate measures: a cop kills his own partner - with a grenade no less?
A very well-done series, IMO. |
It was pretty good. Be interesting to see what happens next season when Vic figures out who smoked Lem.
|
Yeah. We'll get to see how deep friendship is in comparison to career preservation. I bet Cavanaugh hangs around though. I love that line he gave: "Thank you for bringing me back into your life."
|
I honestly thought that Vic was gonna shoot him at the end when he asked Vic if he was happy now.
|
The whole season has been awful - and I don't mean that from a quality perspective, just that there have been no happy endings. Seems as though every character is worse off than when they started, and with no end in sight. All the sins of the past few years seem to be coming back to haunt now.
How long till the next season? |

It also looked like Cavanaugh was embracing and kissing Vic's ex wife at her front door, which also never happened. Brilliant stuff! |
It didn't sem like a season finale..I dunno
Likes: Vic looks like he is getting ready to go ape**** on the streets like he was in season 1 and 2--the Salvadorans are going to be his #1 target because of the grenade connection. The money train coming back to haunt them. Shane looking like he is going to go a little loopy under the strees. Dutch using "pimpology" on the hot uni he likes. Dutch having some dirt on the ex-captain. Vic going on on the CI who screwed them Dislikes: Lem getting killed--the strike team was at its best with Vic, lem, Shane, and burn-face beard-(can't recall his name). Cavanaugh sticking around for another season--Glenn Close was a much better "guest star" than Forrest The way Vic's wife is acting flaky--she looks homlier than Holly Hobby at the barn dance, and she is acting like Cavanaugh is an alright guy--after he lied to her about autistic kids, and who he was. Waiting forever for the new season..... BTW When is that Aceveda incriminating photo going to surface, so Mackey can get some leverage?? |
I've loved this show since the first season. The best scene was when Vic explained to the child kidnapper they had in custody that, "Nahh, good cop and bad cop went home. I'm a different kind of cop." and then proceded to tune him up with a yellow-pages. CLASSIC!!!! :D
Was pretty disappointed that they killed Lem off. Shane has always been about just on the edge of snapping, and with the thought of Vic finding out he was the one who offed Lem, Shane is going to be way out there next season. And "burn-face-beard" seems to have been coming up as a character in the last couple of episodes. Look for more story line about him next season...just my own $.02. Randy |
WHY DIDN"T SOMEBODY FKING REMIND ME>>>>I MISSSED IT!!!
|
I look forward to watch the Shield every week. Their technical advisors are very good. One is a former LAPD Southeast cop who knows his stuff. They were filming in the area I work earlier this year, so I had to pay them a visit. I met them and offered to take them on a ride along to get a taste of the "real stuff." Lem was the only one who agreed. All were very very cool, especially Shane (Walton).
As far as the show goes, I love and hate Vic. He killed the informant cop in the first episode, so I cannot ever accept him. However, his methods are old school stuff. Glen Close was outstanding as the Captain. They should have kept her because she was very powerful. She could have checked Vic and the crew. Forrest is despicable! I hate everything about him. When Vic hooked up with Forest's wife, I was cheering! Shane is a loose cannon and is going to give Vic a run for his money. I liked Lem, but he was going to crack. There were no if's, ands, or buts. I look forward to the next season. David |
Just going off on a wild tangent, but who will replace Lem?
Dutch? Don't think so - he'd be killed in an instant working with these guys - though he is dirtier than a snake in tar. His thing definitely is sex. How 'bout the brother uniformed cop, Julian? His character is actually crazy enough if you think about - lots of stuff for that guy to hide, particularly the fact he might be gay. Hiding one's self ultimately works against that same person. Or Cavanaugh - wouldn't that be a pisser if Cavanaugh got booted from Internal and somehow ended up on their team? Sure, it probably wouldn't work from a "realism" pov, but it's cool to think up certain scenarios. |
Nobody can be accepted into the team right away...you gotta build trust..and that menas thay have to have sumthin on U....
|
Cavanaugh is too good of a nemisis...he isn't above by hook or crook to get what he wants and that is what makes him a tasty adversary...
|
It will be a woman.....maybe Julians Trainee....or the gal who is pregnant.
|
All good points, Ted, however:
1) I think Julian would jump at a chance on the team. He has demons. They do too. Trust is a one-episode thing if you think about it. 2) The trainee - yeah, I thought about her, but freakin' Mackey (Vic) would jump her bones in a heartbeat, then kill her. Besides, she's rookie stuff, and Dutch's biatch now. I sure as hell wouldn't want her on my team. 3) The gal who's pregnant had the kid - it's Mackey's; like we couldn't figure that one out. I wouldn't be surprised if they write her out because she's a mommy now and in a hardcore job. |
Yeah but Julian still has a conscience....
Maybe Dutchs Black woman partner....didja ever think... Acevada....is allready in Bed with Vic against Cavaugh, but he doesn't need to be on the team...hes a councilman wt ambition. They may not fill the spot...???? |
If the rookie continues, I'd be surprised. She lost it when she saw Lem dead. She could not control herself, and that is something that is unacceptable. In our line of work, we see the absolute worst. I have seen decapitated kids, kids put in microwaves and literally cooked, people tortured, etc.....it never amazes me how horrible and terrible people can be. I hope IAD Cavanaugh gets arrested for something and he becomes Antwone girlfriend.
My bet is a new character is added, David |
There was another "strike team" that showed up in seasons 3 and 4. they kinda teamed up with Mackey and his boys. I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up the lady striker from that team. She and Mackey kinda had a little chemistry going on.
Funny thing about Mackey, for a short, bald guy, in his forties, he sure can score some leg, can't he? ;) (Gives some of us something to look forward to I guess!) Randy |

I contend that there is a very thin line between mans being "civilized" and being a Brut. I think...know that there is a darkness in all men and the only way to transcend that darkness is to own/own up to having that darkness. Thats why I have said that one has to go into the darkness/to become the darkness to find the light within....to whit I am a man of wealth and taste...
