How American Politics is like the Mafia..
You don't get elected unless your a Made Man.....
Remember Howard Dean the guy the Media said had a lock on the Dem. nomination...he never won a primary.... It takes 2 things to get Elected in America 1. Money, Money and Money 2. The BACKING of the Party Organization Dean had the ability to RAISE MONEY...and thats why he is now the head of the DNC...cause he can tap into that great pool of Internetees. and Corzine is Senator and now Gov of NJ..because he put up 60M of his own money...so you know the guy is serious.... and Number 2..even though you had the money and Media Polls being an OUTSIDER like Dean was he NEVER had the party organization behind him...and thats why Kerry got the nomination. With it taking literally Hundreds of Millions of $$$$ to run for President....American Democracy has been bought and paid for by Special Interests....all that money is used to buy Media time to manipulate the American Public into voting for MR. X or Mr Y....and since the same Special Interests give money to both canidates...it really doesn't matter which canidate wins...as both are made men beholding to the same general interests... Now one of the BIGGEST Special Interest groups in America are the UNIONS that represent the drones who work for the Federal and State Governments....U might say that the Bureaucracy is the largest SOCIALIST organization outside of the Communist Party that was in the old Soviet Union. Gotta love that Civil Service.... and the other large Interest can be collectivily stated as being Business...and since Union Pension Funds invest in Stocks and Bonds...U might see why US Foreign Policy is geared to promoting the New World Order aka as Globalizaton....Free Trade...Democraization etc..... Now does ole GW make any sense to ya... BTW...everyonce in awhile I play cards with a retiree who was high up in the tree at Langley....he says Oswald was trained as an asasisin and was the one who pulled the trigger...on LBJs behalf.

I agree with you and most especially with your last sentence. With JFK alive, LBJ would have never been President. He would in all likelihood have not been VP in JFK's second term, and after 8 years as AJ, Bob would have been next, and LBJ would have been too old..., and then of course, Jack would have kept Ted under better control, and he would have been the third Kennedy pres...
During the 1960 primary campaign, JFK and LBJ were not at all friendly. JFK needed LBJ to beat Nixon, who got more popular votes anyway, and if the Chicago "mob" had not been behind JFK, he would not have won. JFK and LBJ actually detested each other. With all said and done, it is the only logical conclusion.

Similarities between legit politicians and the Mafia ?
Their main motivational drive being power and money. Which essentially is two sides of the same coin.

The first thing LBJ asked his neighbor and friend...J Edgar Hoover after the JFK assisination was, "Were they shooting at me to?"
Bobby K felt incredibe guilt after the assisination that he had somehow set the forces in motion that killed his brother...in that the Kennedys had set up covert operations to kill Castro and Diem as well as operations to destabilize Cuba. I think that it was more likely that Kennedy was killed by people associated with organized crime in Cuba and rogue elements in the CIA who hated Commies...that they felt betrayed when Kennedy guarnteed to the USSR after the Missile Crisis that Cuba wouldn't be invaded by the USA. Oswald probably was a government informer/operative, was part of the plot in some way and was in the Lunch room while the assisin was doing the shooting. perhaps as a lookout? Remember 2 things Oswald said 1. I'm a Patsy 2. Will someone step forward to represent me The second statement is a plea for the government agency he was working for to acknowledge that he was working for them as an agent. But nobody at the time was gona step forward and admit that a government agency had been part and parcel of a Presidents death. That the system had gone awry. After the fact everything was a cover up because noone wanted to see who Oswald really belonged to...If he was a Russian or Cuban agent that would mean WW3 and if he was an Operative of the govt as I said no one in the govt wanted to admit that. So put a nice coat of Whitewash over it and forget about it...aka The Warren Commission.

Totally disagree.
Let's see, how many gazillionaire, self-financed candidates can we name who did not get elected? Ross Perot (ran for pres.) Steve Forbes (pres.) Michael Huffington (sen. CA) Al Checchi (gov. CA) Victor Morales (sen. TX) Mark Warner (sen VA) That's a start. Now, how many who had the backing of the party didn't make it? Actually, every nominee who lost a general election had the backing of the party. I don't recall too many cases where the party refused to support whomever had won the primaries fair and square.

The analogy between the Mafia and American Politics is a loose one...most descriptive of the fact that U don't get elected to high office unless your a made member of the club that can be trusted to support the status quo.
Ross Perot....the Texas flying bat ran on his own ticket...and was surely about reform Steve Forbes...Flat Tax Steve..... Huffington...Arianas boy...got the backing of the Party, but ran into an equally strong Democratic canidate who made him look like a light weight millionaire playboy...I think it was Feinstein who beat him.....and she was Mayor of SF.... Al Checchi... I lived in CA and don't even know who the He11 he is/was... Morales...Don't know a thing about him??? Warner... Don't know much about him???? What U forget is that elections are between TWO made men...
