Acknowledging the Rush to War

Most of the evidence for the illegality of the attempted conquest of Iraq is in this article.

Quote:
Acknowledging the Rush to War
by Alan Bock*

It is perhaps ironic - but charming to one who finds the phenomenon that intentions good and ill so often go awry more amusing than infuriating - that it has been in Great Britain, with its vaunted Official Secrets Act, that leaks have occurred that have made the mainstream press take notice of the extreme likelihood that the Bush administration was bent on attacking Saddam Hussein no matter what, once the terrorist attacks of 9/11 gave them the thinnest of pretexts. This belated recognition is welcome, and might - though I might be stretching here - serve as a mild deterrent on public opinion the next time our reputed leaders have a hankering to rush this country into war again.

What is somewhat striking, however, is that it was not all that hard to figure this out, either during the summer of 2002, the time of the vaunted Downing Street Memo, or in late January 2003, the time when David Manning, who was British prime minister Tony Blairs chief foreign policy adviser at the time, wrote the memo highlighted earlier this week in a New York Times story. There were plenty of people without access to secret briefings in the inner circle - I was far from the only one - who were quite sure (though we sometimes entertained the hope that we were wrong), from analyzing past and present attitudes and influences and current events, that this country was headed inevitably toward war and all those UN resolutions and presentations were mere window dressing.

*Alan Bock is Senior Essayist at the Orange County Registerand a weekly columnist for WorldNetDaily. He is the author of Ambush at Ruby Ridge (Putnam-Berkley, 1995). He is also author of the new book Waiting to Inhale: The Politics of Medical Marijuana(Seven Locks Press). His exclusive column appears every Tuesday on Antiwar.com.

he complete and fully linked article is available.

No, the neo-con's aren't communists; they're a type of liberal more like fascists than anything.

Of course, you Mul-berry, are on the outer fringes of the neo-conservative scope supporting torture and murder as strongly as you do.

In order to be propaganda, it'd have to be false, or mostly false. Since Mr. Bock is both factual and a genuine conservative, this essay is not propaganda in the slightest.

You mean like your pattern assertion, and the assertions of your commie buddies at lewrockwell, that Saddam had no connections with al qaeda?

An editorial is an opinion. Takes an idiot to believe it as fact.

Since it's fully linked to supporting documents, as it were, it's hardly mere opinion. Then there's the observable facts about the Iraq invasion debacle to ice the cake so to speak.

That's one of the Bush'ists chief problems, their propaganda won't work because the facts are easily had that demonstrated their lies.

That's something like proof number 565 that you're a know-nothing about politics, or much of anythng else.

Guess all the politicians who voted for the war were all wrong as well?

Slopat, take your meds and go and clean your guns...

That's right, Joe, they were wrong. Unlike you, I don't place faith in politicians. I find almost all of them to be criminals of varying degree.

His writing leaves a lot to be desired. You read his ***** and it is flowered up and puffed up. Yup, typical OC bag-o-crap. He takes a 2 inch dia slug and draws it to 30 miles of thin wire that is tenuous.

Get to the freak'n point Alan! I haven't read anything from Reason or from Freedom or even Liberty rag but he has supposedly written for HBR which figures. Seems like just another pompous libertarian technocrat. Yawn… I am left unimpressed. Universities are full of writers and thinkers that produce such elegant work that the message is lost but the syntax and structure are things to behold.

Don't ya have anything that will relax my sphincter when I'm try'n to take a dump rather than make'n it pucker?

Well, let's see, today I was reading Kitplanes Magazine, and yesterday it was Southern Partisan magazine. Let's see, then there's Panorama, Roundel, Excellence, Bimmer, and some ATV magazines I subscribed to to get a picture of what's going on there; then there's Reason magazine.

Kitplanes would be good but all that assembly and cool product produced would give me wood which would provide a whole host of new dilemmas.

BTT (back to topic) - Alan Bock is...dang...I forgot what the hell I was gonna say...I guess he has left me less than inspired and frankly I have just found myself remarkably apathetic. Hmmm. Time to make mud.

His book on Ruby Ridge was pretty good. Last 1/3 covered the trial which was stunning.

It is the almost perfect parroting of the communist propagandists that must have me confused...It walks like a duck, it talks like a duck, I have this instinctual desire to kill it, roll it in flour and then slip it into a hot oil bath.

You have joined their forces, fastpat...Whether you think you do or not, or think there is a greater good to joining forces with evil, you work for the communists and other would-be enemies of America.

You have no idea about political philosophies at all.

Nothing, de nada.

Precisely...I don't care what a traitor calls himself, he can call himself a patriot and he would still be a POS.
