whoever programmed the macintosh should be executed

and I mean Summarily....

I just spent the last half hour writing a thoughtful letter to someone and in the process, touched the "NUM LOCK ? CLEAR key......and guess what; everything I wrote is gone!

what human would have devised this machine?

? I've never heard of such nonsense. Save your docs every couple minutes and you won't have a problem.

I've thought about giving a Mac a try now that they run Unix. Then again, all of the software I use only runs on Windows...

nostatic 04-01-2006 07:59 PM

yeah, I've never lost a document due to a windoze crash...

save early, save often. Backup critical documents.

Ummmmmm try the auto save feature.........

Moneyguy1 04-01-2006 09:22 PM

I have a COmpaq PC and I still do not know what key or combinations of keys I hot and the same thing happens. I elect the auto save and at least I only lose a line or two...

What application are you using? Nothing happens when I hit that key in MS Word on my MAC.

red-beard 04-02-2006 04:08 AM

I have to admit that since XP, things have been pretty peaceful in windowville

BlueSkyJaunte 04-02-2006 09:31 AM

There's no "clear" anywhere on the three Mac keyboards I have.

April Fool's.

I'm not Mac fan, but this sounds like a PIBCAC problem.

jyl 04-02-2006 10:42 AM

You mean the key above the "7" of the numeric keypad? On my Mac it simply says "clear", not "num lock" or anything else. Anyway, that key does nothing when I press it in Word or AppleWorks. Can you re-create what happened? If you can, post details.

Problem Is Between Computer And Chair

BlueSkyJaunte 04-02-2006 06:05 PM

LOL I learned it as PEBKAC: Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair.

My Mac doesn't have a num lock key; the number pad is just that...a number pad. What other purpose does it serve? Always use "control Z" when you inadvertently delete or change anything..even works on those windows pieces o crap.

Moneyguy1 04-08-2006 12:09 AM

No system is foolproof.

Our in-house guru had something he said every time there was an update of Windows:

"It's just the old version with another roll of duct tape."
