Car is in the shop. Driving a rental - Pontiac Grand Am. The thing is fugly!
No wonder the Camry and Accord are top sellers. They may be a little bland but at least they aren't ugly. I don't know about the Grand Am's reliability record but, judging from the interior fit and finish, it can't be good. One thing though, the car's pretty quick. Steering is sloppy, even when compared to my Dodge Grand Caravan. Maybe I'm just so used to the van, I don't know.
There isn't an American sedan that really appeals to me lately, not even the Charger. Just looks too obvious and vulgar. Oh yeah, the new BMW 3, 5 and 6 are fugly too. Give me an Acura TL or G35 instead. |

We rented one and pounded it from Tucson to Huntsville and back last fall. Ugly it may be but 29.7+ MPG running down rtes 10 and 20 at speeds I will not reveal made it a reasonable ride.
I didn't like the steering or suspension, but then I like something that jars my teeth every so often!!

I got stuck with a Grand Am rental once. Worst car I've driven in years. And butt fugly.

I used to own a Grand Am GT, better steering and suspension than the base model. I thought it handled very well for a FWD car.
They stopped making the Grand Am over a year ago, it has been replaced by the G6.

No wonder the rental has 30k miles on it. I didn't know that it's over a year old. Most rentals I've driven had less than 5k miles. I wonder how the G6 compares to the Grand Am.
