McKinney does an about-face!
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,190833,00.html
WASHINGTON — A federal grand jury arrived Thursday at the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., to hear from two House staff aides about a scuffle last Wednesday involving a Capitol Police officer and Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney. Meanwhile, McKinney, made a formal apology on the House floor for the incident, saying "there should not have been any physical contact." "I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all, and I regret this escalation, and I apologize," she said to applause. McKinney also said she would support a House resolution introduced by Republicans to express appreciation for the work done by Capitol Police. Article continued at link above.

"I come before this body to personally express again my sincere regret about the encounter with the Capitol Hill Police. I appreciate my colleagues who are standing with me, who love this institution and who love this country. There should not have been any physical contact in this incident. I have always supported law enforcement and will be voting for H.R. 756, expressing my gratitude and appreciation to the professionalism and dedication of the men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police. I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation, and I apologize,"
~~~ Hmm... "...about the encounter with the Capitol Hill Police." . Encounter? Yours? No ownership of her striking the officer. ~~~ "There should not have been any physical contact in this incident." . Who's "physical contact"? Yours? Again, no ownership. ~~~ "I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation..." . Misunderstanding? Escalation? You escalated it...is that what you regret?...if so, say that. ~~~ "... and I apologize," . OK, go ahead and apologize. Just saying "I apologize" does NOT an apology make. One must cite chapter and verse about one's part in the matter for an apology to be real, actual, sincere, and genuine. Otherwise, it's just a batch of words reflecting the deal one's ego has struck with its cowardice. This BS from her is barely even an acknowledgment. Once again, another unevolved ego that is unwilling to get off its position.
She did what all "smart" (quote marks intentional) policians do. A wet finger to the wind and weasel word their way out once they find their ruse didn't have the intended effect.
In court, isn't it called an "Allocution" meaning, as Don so eloquently stated above you cite chapter and versus of what you did wrong?
Did you notice that the Black Caucus and NOW are amazingly silent on this one. They're laying low till this blows over.
On a side note, have you ever noticed they still have the NAACP. Since "Colored" is no longer PC, shouldn't that be NAAAA?
I beg your pardon, but aren't they "People of Color" which is a code phrase for everyone except the Crackers.
BTW, "People of Color" is incorrect grammar that your sixth grade teacher wouldn't let you get away with; it's a dangling modifier. You wouldn't say "People of Blind" or People of Fat" You'd say Blind People and Fat People.
Don't beg, you are old enough to ask. The NAACP is the National....Colored People yet if you say that a black person is "Colored" you will have a fight on your hands. I remember when it was derogatory to say "black".
