The Audi A8L W12 moves super fast.

Audi A8L W12, the supercar!

The W12 in question-- two V6 powerplants connected at the crankshaft in a "W" formation-- generates 450hp. That's enough power to propel Audi’s flagship from zero to sixty in five seconds, or accelerate from any speed to its 130mph V-max with stupendous, seamless, seductive shove.

The W12 comes with every conceivable additive from Bluetooth to pre-heated seats. And then there are optional goodies only W12 customers can purchase: headrest-mounted DVD system, rear reclining seats, paddle-shifts and a refrigerator too.

For further details, call your favorite Porsche and Audi Dealer in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania on 800-814-0656.

So you spend $120,000 to go 0-60 in 5 seconds?

The Mercedes E55 AMG gets you there in 4.5 seconds with 520 ft/lbs of torque and costs $40,000 LESS.

The Audi is an expensive underperformer. (And it's ugly.) (And you're a troll.)

Pitching Audi "supercars" to a bunch of Porsche owners is a bit like selling Piper Cubs to the Blue Angels.

0-60 in 5 seconds? Oh please. My 964 goes 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and it's SEVENTEEN FREAKING YEARS OLD.

You'll have to try a lot harder to impress us.

Oh yeah, and half the people on this forum believe that having a cup holder is a crime against humanity. So I suspect the optional DVD player and FRIDGE will win you little sympathy.

Well, mostly involving the service dept. My favorite is when they installed headlight bulbs sideways (what's that little notch for?) then, over the course of two more visits, claimed to have aimed them, run a full diagnostic using their special VAG tools, and replaced both auto height adjusting motors under warranty.

Here's a pic when I got it home after the second try and pulled the headlights:

RallyJon,
What are we looking at in the above pic? I have never seen anything like that attached to headlights--how does it work? Sorry if it is a stupid question. I prefer the older cars that don't have all the new crap that you can't fix yourself.

The back of the HID low beam housing. The round thing in the middle is the backside of the low beam bulb. It's rotated about 80° clockwise from where it should be.

I think this story is the perfect example of the difference between real mechanics and the current breed. It's not working? Well take it apart and see what the problem is! It's obvious that actually LOOKING at the bulb never factored into their diagnostic process.

130 MPH.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't even the 944 capable of close to that if not at least that?

Yeah, even my '87 924S would do that. The thing is, the car is a lot faster with the electronic speed governor re-flashed. Maximum speed is set to 155mph in Europe by a 'gentleman's agreement' between the big manufacturers. I suspect that limit is reduced somewhat for the North American market due to softer sidewall tires fitted to keep luxury car buyers over here from b1tching about the 'harsh' ride.
I like how this troll's post backfired on him. It started out as a plug for the Audi flagship and ended up as an exposure of why they don't 'get it' in this market with service or some product!

Evidently this guy "Aley" is only on here to promote the Audi, it is happening alot on car forums these days where a user just joins to plug a car he sells on behalf of a dealership.

He has 2 posts.

I hate to bump this thread. .. but 'paddle-shifts" !? . ..on a big sedan!?

Okay, admittitally I kinda have a soft-spot for the big 12-cylindered land-yachts . .. Mercedes and BMW had some cool ones back in the 90's. . . .and NOW Audi is doing the "ME TOO" routine. . . but adding paddle-shifters.

What kind of tool would buy that?
