French Gov't Surrenders Again: Jobs law is repealed

Proof once again that most European governments have no backbone, and that college students there don't take economics class, the French government gave in to student and union protests and will repeal the jobs law.

http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/04/11/france.labor.law/index.html

The law would have allowed employers to fire workers 26 years old and younger at any point during their first two years on the job. Oh the horror!

"Students and labor unions in France plan to take to the streets on Tuesday to celebrate the repeal of a controversial jobs law."

To help solve the 20% unemployment of young adults, the government will instead subsidize job programs for them.

Is there a word for "economics" in French?

LOL, the french government held out against the lazy brats about 20 times as long as they held off the Germans before surrendering.

Maybe they need to build a really long fortified wall to keep the kids out. No wait, they tried that. the kids will just walk around the wall.

What's the tax rate in Le France? If it's anything like the rest of the EU they damn well better be subsidizing folks without jobs.

Cheese-eating surrender monkeys!

I'm going there on vacation this summer, I plan on telling them that my name is Mohammed and demanding welfare for the 2 weeks that I am there. Have to compensate for the worthless dollar somehow.

yeah, I am disappointed by my mother country. Next time around, the kids will be on strike because they all want a Porsche too? I understand economics, that`s why I left...

Your kind are always welcome here in the USA! Hopefully all those with brains and good work ethic will emigrate to the USA, and France will sink into bankruptcy with everyone working 30 hour weeks at government jobs they can't get fired from.

From a French co-worker, around 50% for middle class earners, much more if you're wealthy.
