You are not generalizing at all are you? Course all the people with guns in Texas are "normal" and law abiding???

This is one of the most silly of threads I have seen in a long time. Most people know how to take care of this...

FWIW I let my cats come and go more or less as they please. One stays in by choice (only goes as far as the porch), the other one likes to roam about. The only real threats I see to them are the jackasses that like to drive down my alley at 70 miles an hour - the first one of them that hits one of my pets, my neighbors' pets or one of the neighborhood kids is getting a tire iron in the face or worse. At least the cats are smart enough to avoid the cars. Point is, I don't see why it's so bad to let cats out in an urban environment if they have a point of safe refuge and their shots, etc. My "roaming" cat is a pretty tough SOB too - not fat, but very big/stocky and has won every conflict with interlopers on "his" turf thus far.

I am not in a position to have the cat fixed at the moment. When I get him traped I will email you. If you want to pay for the neuter job, we can go that route. Have him fixed and I will relase him back into the neighborhood. This can all be done over the phone. If not I have no other choice other than the pound.

P.S It turnes out that my cats are fine, all up to date on their shots and all. so they will both be fine.

Kind of an inside joke, Joe. Not refering to you in any way (just noticed where you live). You missed all the fun. It starts about halfway down. Charles is a piece of work. Finding out you live in AZ as well restores my faith in the state.

Slakjaw, glad to see you getting your cat problem fixed.

Jeff, thanks for the laugh... I'm afraid the folks who didn't read the other thread are not getting the joke.

Everybody, rambling on for four page on a simple feral cat thread... you guys crack me up!

Job well done PPOTer's

Just to stir the pot... if we were to change the word "cat" for "dog" how do you suppose he thread would have gone? ;)

Dogs..

Interesting. There is Tucson we have a real "bleeding heart" Humane Society. Because they cry so loudly about these "poor animals that need homes", we now have a number of "adopted" animals that are left out all night, run loose, bark all hours of the day and night and intimidate people taking an evening "constitutional". What kind of animal Control do we have?

"Contact your neighbor, talk over the situation and if it cannot be amicably resolved, Animal Control will provide an arbitrator."

Approaching some people about their misbehaving animals is an excellent way to wind up beaten or shot, especially here in the "Wild West". Most people are not trained in confrontational situations.

Whether a cat or a dog, when did animals get the same if not more rights than humans? Is this even rational?

No!

I am a big softy animal lover tree hugger native southern Kalifornian non-hunter (but I would fight to the death for your right to do so)

and no animals are not people and are not of equal importance/value.

I'm still wondering if Porsche-O-Phile is a full on vegan who only eats vegetables that have been picked humanely in order to not cause any pain to the poor defenseless plant....

The sick part is that the plant really doesn't die until you are chewing it and then your stomach acid is doing its thing, a long slow painful death. That or it rots in its own muck behind the screaming yogurt in the fridge. I'm making myself feel bad as a vegetarian, maybe I should carry a shotgun to the the garden...

Can't speak for the others, but I'd tell you to use a bigger gun.

Be a responsible pet owner, and keep your DOMESTIC pets at your residence, don't let them roam about unattended. In IL, we have this nifty thing called a "lease-law". Basically, you are required, by law, to keep your dog on a lease at all times unless it is inside your residence. I wonder if the same applies to cats..hmm.

Um.. when the 'lease' is up do you have to pay for wear and tear?
