Liquid Gold - Thanks Lube

I recently changed the Exploder Sport Trac over to Lubemaster brand 5W30. Filled up this morning @ $2.999/gal and calculated 21.3 mpg. I have never gotten anywhere close to that before.
Thanks Lubemaster.
Now off to powerwash the deck. Can I use the stuff in the power washer too ??

I'll second that, except I used Lube's wheel bearing grease on my car and it quit making that strange rattle that it used to before.

Mikester - we don't do retail. It is all biz-2-biz. We intially designed our lubricants for heavy equipment and harsh factory apps. We started doing fleet a few years ago. The oil that tabscocat is using has out lasted Mobil 1 Synthetic and Amsoil by a factor of 3 - that is according to oil analysis. Our customers swear that it increases milage - theoretically I concure but to a point but what the oil really does well is last. It is designed for extened drain intervals and protection of your engine whilst under severe load (like turbo chargers and fuel wash).

When under development, we looked at the various failure modes engines (diesel and gas) experience and built the product the off set those. It took about 4 years total but we are on to something - to the point where we may infact be about three generations of engine oil technology ahead of the API specs and the other oil companies.

As for the grease...honestly, you will not find a better product available for any price. Seriously.

Mikester - what weight do you need?

Lube, what is the recommended drain interval on that oil? I'm using Mobil 1 currently and change it every 10-12K or so. Would be interested in trying this oil...PM me with info? Thanks

SlowToady - great question and very difficult to answer. Many varibles come into play that influence oil longevity. The first case study we did was on a bunch of escavators at Nucor Steel that run 24/7. They were using Mobil 1 and changing every 300hrs. Imagine, using Mobil 1 synthetic in a escavator! Those beasts run twin turbos and nasty fuel and they don't stop. They sample every 50 hours - 300hrs is the best they ever got. We came in and made a pitch, they bit, gave us half to test on and we went 1200+ according to oil analysis. During the study they ycouldn't believe it - they even sent out duel samples to another independent lab and got the same confirmation. They throttled back to changing a bit over 1000hrs. The savings on downtime and oil savings was worth thousands - our oil is prices about the same as the Mobil product. They have reduce rebuilds dramtically as well.

Just got done with another case study last month on an EMT unit that used our oil in 40 of their 145 ambulances. Some of those units idle all day long - bad for oil because the EGR recycles exhaust at 80% during idle. We were able to outlast Castrol's oil by 4 fold.

What weight are you running in you 44?

Mike,
So normal commuting mileage would you go 10,000 or 15,000 miles on the changes ??

hmm... might be a good idea to try a better lubricant in my Hyundai's transmission...

I know when I used some Amsoil for the engine, I did get a nice gain in fuel economy for the first couple tanks of gas.

Lube, I would love to try some of your oils, or some oils you recommend. Seems like it would be just the ticket for some of my commercial landscaping equipment. Wouldn't hurt my Jeep Cherokee either. How can I get my hands on some?

If you were going 10K then bumping up to 15K would be no problem. If you wanted to try going any further I would suggest doing some oil analysis - pull a sample at 15K and have it tested for condition and wear metals. If it looks good go to 18K (for mostly city & idle) or 20K (highway) and pull another sample. keep it going till te analysis tells you to stop the insanity. I did this with my Volvo and got to 40+K before the test results told me to change. When I had Castrol in it it would only go to about 6K. Let me know if you would like some test kits. I might need some $$ - they go for $10/ea our cost (list is $18 to $25).

I'd like to see the data. PM me your paypal so I can grab a couple sample kits. I have a feeling that the Acura can go much longer than will the Ford.

Lube - I don't mean to assume you're starting a business selling oil and test kits on PPOT, but I'd love to try some of your motor oil on my daily driven 528i.

Lube,

This would actually be going in my Golf, the 944 is still down for repairs needing new steering rack, either tie rods or control arm and left front fender. Hopefully I can work on it this summer. VW says 5-w30 in the Golf, so that's what I'm running in the Mobil 1 variety.

Mobil 1 in an escavator? I'd hate to have to pay for that every 300hrs. How much oil do those things take? The only upside to working at JiffyLube is that Mobil 1 is a great price. Free.

I have yet to accept any $$$ for anything, of course that may have to change. Maybe we should have Wayne carry the line?

If you want, PM me the amount and weight your looking for and I will see what I can do.

Slow - 5W30 will not be a problem. As for the escavator application, yup, they tried a bunch of oils and found that Mobil 1 gave them the longest drain intervals (until we came to town!). at about 60 gallons per drain you need to get the most out of it
