A tribute to my late Step-Father

He passed away peacefully with is family by his side on Apri 4th 2006. A military hero and a man of principle with the utmost determination.

Hi alf,

This is Andrew. You may or may not remember me. I was originally from Singapore. I lived in Seattle during the late 80s till 2002. I visited your family restaurant on Capital Hill all the time. I have come to know your mom, stepfather, sister and older brother quite well (I believe you were working in the audit field at the time, travelling quite often and I did not get a chance to know you better). I moved to Portland in 2002, and have just returned to Singapore for a 3 year job assignment in 2004.

I was doing one of my rare checks on Pelican when I came across this post. I am saddened to hear about the death of your stepfather. I enjoyed talking to him and hearing about this experiences of living in S-E Asia.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Please accept my condolences, and also send my condolences to your family, especially to your mom Kathy.

Alfred...my sympathy for you and your family....and my deepest respect for Major Jones. You are lucky to have known such a man so intimately. Obviously a man of principle and strength who selflessly answered when their country called...gone but not forgotten. Lower the flag and play taps for yet another brave SF soldier tonight. May he rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss. We lost my grandfather on 2/24 and we miss him terribly and we were very close. Your family is in my prayers tonight.

My father passed away when i was 9 and he was my step-dad since i was 12. I have learnt so much from him and hope to live up to his expectations of integrity, duty, perseverance, doing the right thing and not taking anything for granted.

Andrew please give my mom a ring when you have some time, i am sure she would love to hear from you.
